Panda, Ellie, and Normus: all very traumatized after their Canine Perspective training. Definitely not able to play, romp around, or enjoy life at all.

“Losing their wag” is one of the most common criticisms or hesitations of aversive training in general. And it’s also the one I just don’t understand. Because… Look at these happy, healthy dogs.

If you have adorable footage of your dog, enjoying life while wearing their collar, slide it into our DM’s. I’d love to share with the rest of the pack ❤️ .

Did you have any hesitations before training with us? Let us know in the comments.

I will freely admit I used to think of them as “shock collars” and I’m so happy my old neighbors all educated me to how they really work. I went into Luna‘s consultation with Jesse already feeling such a sense of comfort so that when he explained the technology behind the collar, I was truly able to listen.

Tomorrow we say goodbye to longtime pack member Bogie. We have a little something special for his send off (keep an eye on the feed tomorrow!) however his pawrents also wanted to get in on the fun and offered to throw a pizza party for the staff.

While we cannot guarantee anyone other than Bogie will be getting any pizza crusts (his fave treat) we have decided to make his going away party into a last minute Client Appreciation Day!

Lots of treats and fun for everyone in attendance tomorrow. Sign up in Gingr so your pup doesn’t miss out!

Help us send off Bogie to Indiana in style. See you all tomorrow!

Sound off in the comments, Pack!

What do we think of this?

We finally sat down to film our little “AMA” from almost a year ago but hey, no time like the present!!

Full video will be released on our YouTube, check it out using the link in our bio and don’t forget to subscribe!

I’ll be releasing snippets here on the ‘Gram but to check out the full 40-minute sit down, head over to YouTube.

Interested in submitting questions we didn’t cover? Drop em in the comments, Pack! We’d love to answer them. Spoiler alert: Jesse hates doing these so I love to make him. So get your questions in and force him to do it again! 😈

We covered everything from Jesse’s most challenging case to help picking a rescue dog. And if you want to know our favorite dog in our pack? Well you’ll have to watch to find out!

How many walks is too few? Anyone else feel the guilt on busy days?

I should have sent Luna to daycare today but it’s so hard to predict when a day will get busy with a 14-month old 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Plus as the spring chicken in our pack, Luna does ask for more stimulation than Lex and Poncho. So it’s hard to balance everyone.

Anyway, I didn’t have a post for today so I wanted to remind you guys that it’s normal to not give your dog 110% every single day.

That’s what daycare is for after all! 😂

Definitely dropping Luna off tomorrow and requesting extra treadmill. She wants to walk so I’ll give her a walk! 😝😎

Either put IN the work or put ON the leash!

Guys I cannot with these owners anymore. I’m so close to becoming a Karen and yelling at them. It’s just so unfair to the poor dog.

I honestly cannot count how many times I’ve seen this same scenario play out since getting Luna. And I used to be guilty of it too! So I get it. But when you know better, you do better.

This also applies to the Amazon-collar owners out there. Popping on the cheap collars that have five levels and stimming your dog at random does not count. Like at all. Mmkay?

Do the training if you want an off leash dog. We have availability into the fall. Go enjoy this beautiful season with your best pal.

Check out our programs online, DM us, or send an email. We’d love to give you the tools to enjoy the off leash life in our beautiful parks!

Ask and our pack shall receive!

Watch Cass build up to a run/jog on the treadmill 💪🏼

Disclaimer: this is not for every dog. Cass is an athlete and can handle the higher speeds.

We get a lot of comments about our treadmills so if you have any questions, drop them in the comments!

This is obviously great exercise but did you know it’s a mental workout for them as well? Remember dogs after play need rest but dogs after work need sleep. And this is a little of both!

Some daycares charge extra for treadmill time but for us it’s just part of the structure that makes Canine Perspective unique. Even the most social of dogs might not engage in play. Or they have an off day and don’t want to bounce around. Our job is to provide physical activity, regardless of how hard they play. Plus for our antisocial friends this is an absolute must!

Structure for the mind.
Exercise for the body.
Food for the soul.

Thanks Cass for demonstrating how to go the extra mile 😝. We love ya, buddy.

Meet a few of the personality types we see at daycare here! 🏠

Cass is definitely the jock of CP. Dogs like him are always up for a romp in the playpen and are rockstars on the treadmills. Fun fact: some of our superstar athletes like Cass can go faster than other dogs, 💪🏼 up to a trot and sometimes a run!

Good girl Nellie demonstrates our sweethearts of the pack. 😍 Always entering daycare with a wag and a smile, these personalities are up for any activity and are easy for our entire staff to handle.

Then we have heartthrobs like Mister Maverick. He’s handsome and he knows it! Unlike the “sweeties”, these pack members know how to push the limit and try to get away with juuuuuuust a little bit more 😂.

Murphy is definitely the token “lab” of CP but he’s not the only one, just the most wiggly 😝. These fun loving pups are typically trained by Jesse because life is just too amazing and fun to keep their energy level down. Right?!

I wasn’t able to include everyone I thought of but who do you think I missed? 🐶 What personalities does your dog fit into?

Our Story

Canine Perspective is owned and operated by Jesus ‘Jesse’ San Miguel. Clients frequently refer to him as, “The Chicago Dog Whisperer.” This is because Jesse possesses a natural intuition. An ability to look at a dog’s behavior and determine the cause, as well as, the solution.

It is because of this, that he does not focus on obedience. Instead, he teaches his clients how to understand and communicate with dogs to address behavioral issues. He sees things from a canine’s perspective, therefore achieving lasting results within minutes of working with your pet. An attribute of a true Dog Whisperer!

Jesse set about acquiring his knowledge through volunteer work at a local animal shelter in Harlingen, Texas because dogs with behavior issues make up a majority of their population. Leading him to not limit himself to their friendly dogs, but most importantly, motivating him to work with the “problem” dogs. He began to see how a vast number were simply misunderstood. A few of the dogs had even been through obedience courses that did nothing to address the animal’s behavioral issues. Unfortunately, euthanization is the destination for many of them. Because of this, Jesse’s primary focus is to educate everyone on the importance of understanding dogs, as well as, their respective needs.

Realizing a need to learn more. Jesse began seeking out answers after working with two behavioral cases that were outside of his scope of knowledge at the time. Leading him to an internship with world renown dog trainer, Richard Heinz, “The Miami Dog Whisperer.”
