🤓Happy 🤓 Did you know, horses are able to express distinct facial movements? These movements involve the muscles around their eyes, nostrils, and lips, and can be used to convey a range of emotions and intentions. 🤯 To understand how horses use their faces to communicate, scientists analyzed videos of the animals behaving naturally. They identified all the possible movements horses can make with their faces and the underlying musculature. Using this data, they then created a coding system for each individual facial movement—just as other researchers have done for humans and several other species. Horses, it turns out, can make 17 discrete facial movements, whereas cats make 21, dogs make 16, and chimpanzees 13. 🐴 Further, even though a horse's face is structured differently from that of a human—an equine's eyes, for example, are placed on the sides of the skull—it can nevertheless produce some expressions strikingly similar to ours, the scientists discovered. 😜 The more you know! 🌈

🚨New Client Alert🚨 Cinder is an almost 7-year-old Miniature Australian Shepherd with a heart full of love, especially for adult humans. He’s sweet, gentle, and incredibly loyal. 🐾 When it comes to small children, Cinder would prefer to keep his distance. He’s never shown any aggression, but he’s an expert at politely avoiding tiny humans when they’re around. 👶 He’s also not a fan of smoosh-faced pups (sorry, Frenchies) and prefers calmer social circles. Cinder is all about the little joys: belly rubs, sniff-heavy walks, and those oh-so-important post-walk treats. He’s very food motivated, so earning his trust might just start with a snack or two. 🦴 A sensitive soul with a strong sniffer and a love for his people, Cinder is the definition of a good boy with a thoughtful heart. 🐶💙 Welcome to the Green Paws Family! 💚🐾

😸Happy 😸 The word "whisker" originated around the year 1600, derived from the Middle English "wisker," which meant anything that whisks or sweeps. Initially, it referred to human facial hair like mustaches and beards. Later, it was applied to the antennae-like hairs on animals, accurately describing the cat's whiskers, which are similar to a miniature broom. 🧹

It's that time of year again when the City of Chicago increases its minimum wage. Therefore, have made our annual price adjustments to our services coinciding with the City’s July 1st increase in the minimum wage as well as to offset a substantial year-over-year increase to workers comp premiums for the in-home petcare industry, an elevated FUTA/SUTA rate, and other significant price increases we've seen throughout 2024-2025 across almost all vendors, from Time To Pet to Paycor, etc. 💚

Ever noticed how some dog statues have shiny noses or paws? 🐾 That’s wear from years—sometimes decades—of people rubbing them for luck, love, or simply tradition. Many people believe there is luck to be had from rubbing a statue and others simply cannot resist booping a nose or giving a head pat to a good boy/girl! There are many statues of four legged friends and heroes all over the world with their own wear patterns, but the repeated rubs can damage the statue so try to refrain if you ever visit one of these. 😋

✨ Famous dog statues around the world:
🐶 Hachikō (Tokyo, Japan): A tribute to the famously loyal Akita. People touch his statue near Shibuya Station to honor unwavering devotion.
🐾 Greyfriars Bobby (Edinburgh, Scotland): Locals and tourists rub his nose for luck, though it's caused so much wear that restorers have had to step in to save it.
🦴 Fala (Washington D.C., USA): FDR’s beloved Scottish Terrier stands beside him at the memorial. Visitors often reach out to touch him—his ears and back show the polish of affection.
