This playful, silly, and totally lovable girl has been with us for over 30 days, and she’s ready to start her new life. 🏡

Rina is full of wiggles, joy, and affection. She knows commands, gives a professional-level play bow when she’s feeling goofy, and charms everyone she meets. 🎉🥰 Rolling over for belly rubs? She’s a pro at that too!

🌸 Thank you, Chicago! 🌸

We are so grateful for the amazing turnout at yesterday’s Spring Into Love adoption event! We’re still scheduling a few meet & greets and will have a full recap for you later this week – stay tuned!

But for now… it’s Sunday Funday and it’s all about Tahani! 🐾

Tahani is a total sweetheart who has truly blossomed since arriving at CACC. She was scared at first, but with a little love, she’s come out of her shell and shown us her true snuggly, playful self. ❤️ She loves soaking up the sun, resting her adorable face on your lap, and giving the sweetest lean in that you can imagine. And did you see that SMILE? It’s impossible not to fall in love!

Tahani is calm, takes treats gently, walks nicely on leash, has had GREAT leash tests with other dogs and has the most charming little white spot on her chest. She’s got it all… looks, manners, and a heart full of love. ✨

Ceviche has been with us for about a month now and she’s so excited to see so many adopters walking through the door today. She’s hoping someone notices her and chooses her today! 🐶

Ceviche is absolutely ridiculous… in the best ways possible! She’s a petite 1 & 1/2 month old brindle beauty with little legs and adorable paws that turn out like a duck. 🦆 She’s opened up so much since arriving, showering staff and volunteers with affection and smiles. She has had amazing leash tests with other dogs and is perfection. Ceviche also loves ear flips (seriously, it’s a thing!) and will happily share all her love with you. She’s playful, sweet, and ready to give someone her whole heart. ❤️

🌤️ Even on a gloomy day in Chicago, Moussaka shines like the sun! 🐶💛

This handsome boy is pure positivity in dog form, he’s got a glass half-full outlook and an absolutely infectious smile. 😄

Moussaka is a happy, wiggly, toy loving sweetheart who’s hoping someone sees him -REALLY SEES HIM- and gives him the home he deserves. ❤️ If not today, he’s closing his eyes and wishing that tomorrow’s Spring Into Love adoption event will bring his person through our doors.

Moussaka came to us as a stray back on March 8, and because he’s been here 30+ days, his adoption fee is waived! That’s right, dogs like Moussaka, who’ve been waiting patiently, are available with no adoption fee. 🎉

🐾 He’s got a quiet charm, laying on his bed, making gentle eye contact, and wagging his tail without a sound.
🐾 He’s amazing with volunteers and a superstar on the leash.
🐾 He’s got great manners, loves fetch, and sometimes skips picking up the toy just to rush back for more pets!
🐾 He’s aced his leash tests with other dogs too!

☁️ It’s a gray and rainy Friday in Chicago… 🌧️

But these two beautiful besties are here to brighten your day! Meet Treasure and Hunt, a bonded pair of stunning dilute calico sisters who’ve been through a lot but still have so much love to give.

Both were left abandoned inside an empty apartment and brought to CACC. Despite their rough start, they’ve shown us nothing but resilience and sweetness. Treasure is the curious one with big eyes and a gentle spirit, and Hunt is a bit more reserved but melts into a puddle once you pet her.

When you adopt a bonded pair like Treasure and Hunt, you only pay one adoption fee, because besties like these should always stay together. 💕

🐾 It’s Coyote Pup Season! 🐾

From now through early summer, young coyotes are starting to leave their dens and that means you might be spotting more coyotes around your neighborhood. 👀

Don’t worry, this is normal and a good sign that our urban wildlife is thriving and doing its job (like keeping the rodent population in check!). But it’s also a time to stay aware and be respectful of nature at work.

Here’s what to know:

📣 Coyote pups are born in March/April
📣 By late April, they start exploring with adult supervision
📣 You may hear more vocalizing or see adults being protective, especially near dens!

💡 Tips for peaceful coexistence:

✔️ Keep pets leashed and close
✔️ Don’t leave food or trash outside
✔️ Give coyotes space and never approach a pup
✔️ If a coyote lingers, use loud noises to scare it off, they should always be afraid of humans!

If you see a coyote acting strangely or appearing injured, call 311. Otherwise, they’re best left alone to move on naturally.

Please give these wild Chicago families the space they need to grow up safe.

Meet Pumpernickel 🐾

She’s not asking for much… just a quiet corner, a warm voice, and someone who understands that love takes patience.

Pumpernickel is a beautiful brown tabby who came to us on this month due to an eviction. Her world was suddenly turned upside down, and now she’s trying to find her footing in the shelter.

She the kind of cat who will become your most devoted little shadow. Right now, she’s curled up in her kennel, watching, listening, and hoping.

This lovely girl deserves a second chance and someone to remind her what home feels like again. If you’re patient, kind, and ready to offer a safe landing, come meet Pumpernickel. She’s waiting for someone just like you.
