MICROCHIPS WORK!
August 20, 2025 - update from last night:
A man and a woman brought him in to the 16th District Police Station. They left in a hurry and refused to leave contact information. Detectives will follow up on this part of the investigation.
We were notified immediately, posted him on our page, and started the process of transferring him to our rescue to avoid CACC.
After a scan, a microchip was discovered. Officers contacted the chip company and got the family's contact information.
A police officer reached out to the owners, but got voicemail. He then did a Google search of the number attached to the chip and the original Bam Bam flyer popped up.
The family called back and immediately went to the 16th District for their reunion.
Thankfully Bam Bam was microchipped and the information was current. Worst case scenario is he would have been transferred to our rescue and made it home just as well.
Please have a vet scan your pup annually when they get their rabies shot to verify your dog is still microchipped and contact the chip company to confirm your information is current.
