Happy 11th Birthday to our wonderful Scooby (fka Barisic)! 🥳

We're celebrating this special boy who turned the big 1-1 yesterday! Scooby spent a few lovely years in a CCR foster home before finding his amazing forever family two years ago. He's an absolutely fantastic example of how FeLV/FIV+ cats can live full, happy, and asymptomatic lives for many years.

Please don't let a positive diagnosis deter you – these loving cats have so much to offer and deserve a chance at a loving home! ❤️ Consider opening your heart to a special needs rescue – you might just meet your best friend.

The need for help is greater than ever! Kitten season has arrived, bringing an influx of tiny lives that require care, and adult cats are also urgently seeking safe homes.

Chicago Cat Rescue operates as a foster-based rescue. We depend entirely on foster families to open their homes and hearts to these animals. Vulnerable kittens and deserving adult cats.

The calls keep coming, but our ability to rescue more precious lives like this mother cat and her little one depends on you, our friends. Can you be the hero they need?

*CCR provides all the veterinary care—you just provide the safe haven and love. Food and supplies are also provided; however, if our foster parents can provide some of the food, litter, and toys, we would be very appreciative because that allows us to allocate more resources to veterinary care.

** Our boundaries are
South – South Loop neighborhood
North – Evanston
West – Pulaski Ave

Guess who finally got their happily ever after?! 🎉

Happy tears! Quincy has officially been adopted! It's been a long journey, but the perfect family has finally arrived!
His forever family is over the moon, and so are we!

If you're not able to adopt right now, please consider opening your heart and home to a foster animal so we can help more cats like Quincy.

🐰 Keep Your Kitty Safe This Easter: Flower Power Can Be Dangerous! 🌷🐱

Easter is here, bringing beautiful spring blooms into our homes. But did you know that many popular flowers are seriously toxic to cats? Even a tiny nibble or contact with pollen can cause severe health issues.
Protect your feline friend by keeping these flowers completely out of reach:
💀 Lilies: These are a major danger! Every part of the lily is deadly to cats. Even a little pollen can cause fatal kidney failure. Let's make sure our homes are lily-free zones for our kitties.
🤢 Tulips and Daffodils: These Easter favorites can cause vomiting, drooling, and stomach pain if your cat ingests them. Keep those bulbs well away!
⚠️ Hyacinths: Another pretty flower that can lead to significant digestive problems in cats. Best to admire these from a distance.
💔 Azaleas & Rhododendrons: Even a few bites of these colorful blooms can cause vomiting, weakness, and even heart problems in cats.
Looking for safe floral options for Easter? Choose roses, sunflowers, or orchids for a worry-free splash of spring! 🌻
🚨 If you think your cat has come into contact with a toxic plant, don't delay! Contact your vet or the Pet Poison Helpline immediately at (855) 764-7661.

Meet Lisa — a resilient sweetheart who was heartbreakingly left behind after her owner was evicted.

Alone and confused, she waited by the door for someone who would never return. Now safe with us, Lisa is timid and scared, but we’re already seeing glimpses of her starting to warm up. With a bit of time and patience, we know her true personality will shine.

Follow along as she begins her journey to healing — and, hopefully, to a forever home.

Pugsley and Wednesday have officially leveled up to forever home status—now Sake and Nara! They’re living the good life now, full of snuggles, zoomies, and lounging in cat trees😻

Big thanks to their foster family for raising these energetic beans. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Congrats, Sake, Nara, and your new family! May your days be full of treats, naps, and just the right amount of mayhem.

Today is National Pet Day, a day to appreciate our furry family members. It encourages spending time with our pets, supporting animal welfare organizations, and potentially adopting a new furry family member. And maybe some extra treats and catnip today 😺

We think it’s the perfect time to reintroduce Marmee March.

This sweet, soft-spoken gal has been quietly perfecting her snuggle game while she waits for her forever person to show up. She’s gentle, low-key, and lives for chin scritches and long naps by your side. There's no chaos or drama with this girl, just quiet companionship and serious eye contact.

This National Pet Day, while you celebrate the pets already in your life, don’t forget the ones still waiting in shelters and rescues, like Marmee. She’s ready for her happily ever after, let's help her find it. Email [email protected]

🎉 Extra Special Adoption News! Suzie and Spaghetti Have Found Their Forever Home! 🎉

Finding a home for a cat with FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) can be challenging, and finding a home for two FeLV+ cats is nearly a miracle. But today, we are celebrating just that!

Suzie and Spaghetti may have arrived at CCR separately, but they formed an unbreakable bond during their time in a foster home. These two became fast friends, and now they will get to live their best lives together forever.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to their foster family for opening their hearts and homes. To their new family: thank you for welcoming these unique girls into your lives. Never underestimate the power of fostering, sharing, and believing in happy endings.

Congratulations to Suzie, Spaghetti, and their forever family!

In a world where spring means baseball…
One kitten is ready to run the bases.
One kitten is just trying to find the dugout.
Jimmy Dugan and Betty Spaghetti are ready to bring the big leagues to your living room.

Jimmy Dugan: the rookie. The lone boy in a team full of powerhouse sisters. He’s got heart, hustle, and the permanent expression of someone trying to remember the game's rules.

Betty Spaghetti: the chaos coordinator. Equal parts are adorable and unhinged. She will chase a toy for 30 minutes straight, then suddenly remember she’s adorable and demanding snuggles.

Together? Pure kitten mayhem.
They chase, tumble, and steal hearts. Jimmy and Betty are ready to bring the big leagues to your living room. These two cuties are only available as a pair, we don't split up teams! Email [email protected] to meet these cuties

Meet the newest (and cutest) member of our CCR volunteer team—Baby Ariana!

If you were at our SexyBLACK event in October, you might remember the big news—and now she’s made her even bigger debut!

Miss Ariana made her grand entrance last week, and is doing great! While we’re not exactly sure what her CCR duties will be just yet, she’s already in training with her resident kitties. Snuggle specialist? Future foster? Social media assistant like her mom? Only time will tell!

Huge congratulations to her amazing parents on their newest (and most adorable) adventure! Welcome to the world, Ariana—we’re so excited you’re here!

Introducing our newest rescue, Fry

Spotted just two blocks from a volunteer's home, this charming young man was soaking up sidewalk pets like a pro.

He was swooped up and taken to see our friends at Mid North Animal Hospital! He's sweet and intact (not for long!). You know how we love our black kitties!❤️🐈‍⬛️ Fry is about 1 to 1.5 years old, in good health, minus a few scabs, and loves his meals.

He’ll be neutered soon and needs a foster home to help us learn what he wants in a forever family. Could that be you? Email [email protected]. Stay tuned for updates on this charmer!

She’s chill. She’s independent. She’s got a very refined taste in sunbeams. She’ll join you on the couch but won’t demand constant attention. She does expect snacks. She's Evangeline

This sweet girl has been waiting too long for her people to show up. What’s it gonna take? A billboard? Skywriting? A personalized invitation?? Listen, she’s a total catch!

Email [email protected] to meet her. We know her perfect match is out there—they don’t know about her yet! Please help us make sure they see her by sharing.
