Pet Parents!🎇 Please make sure you and your pets are ready and prepared for the 4th of July Holiday.

Get your walk in early in the day before the fireworks begin.
Make sure your pet has a safe and comfortable space to retreat to. Turn on some white noise or a sound machine to drown out the noise.
Make sure your pets' tags or microchips are up to date.
Going to a 4th of July cookout or celebration? Leave your pets at home!
Make sure you're stocked up on calming or CBD treats.
We know this is a fun celebration for most people, but unfortunately the 4th of July can be a very traumatic experience for your pets.

It’s summertime in Chicago & we are feeling the heat! ☀️🥵
As temps reach 90 this week, please be aware that your dog’s walk routine may be altered in order to keep them safe in the heat.

Depending on age & breed, some dogs may be affected by the heat more than others.
In order to avoid overheating & burned paws, our walkers will take the following precautions during their visit with your pets.
🐾 Shortened duration in the heat. If your dog is accustomed to a 25 minute power walk, we may take this down to 10-15 minutes of outdoor time, and spend the rest of your visit duration playing inside.
🐾 Avoidance of pavement. Pavement can get hot very quickly and burn your dog’s paws. We will attempt to stick to sidewalks and grass during the extreme heat.
🐾 More shade! 😎 Your walker may switch up their normal walk route to seek shady areas.

What can YOU do to help your walker and dog(s) beat the heat?
Be understanding of the above adjustments. We understand that you may have a high energy dog who is accustomed to working off some energy during the day, but please be understanding that we are trying to keep our walkers and your dogs safe!

Follow the above tips when you’re walking your own dog as well!

Leave a cold drink or snack in the fridge for your walker. Most of our team members are spending 5+ hours in the heat each day, without access to a fridge. A cold water, Powerade, or mid day snack goes a LONG way to help keep our team cool, hydrated, and energized.
