So this happened. A week ago, we picked up four hedgehogs (three females and one male) all cohabitating. We assume that it was mama and three kids. One female was big, wide through the middle, and she gained 100 grams in less than a week so we were pretty sure she was pregnant. We made arrangements to get her to an experienced breeder for her maternity, but had other ideas and had 6 babies in the last 18 hours. This is a first here- we are a rescue, not a breeder. But, here we are. So, we’re going to let Norah handle herself and support her so her babies grow strong and we can find homes for them, and for her. #348

These photos are hard to look at, but this is the reality of rescue. is a who was to the in We were told that the substance on her right side was ‘petrified poop’. It was actually blood and tissue from a just behind her ear. It came off during exam and surgery to remove the mass was today. It was not connected to the muscle and margins were good. She also has evidence of an elbow fracture, probably from a drop or fall. She looks amazing and is so very sweet. The rest of her life begins now. Incoming cuteness overload arriving at The Ravenswood Community Winter Market Saturday March 22 10am-2pm at All Saints Episcopal Church Parish Hall 1757 W. Wilson. came to us in March 2024. We were told he was 2 years old but he looked like he’d seen a few things. Vets at told us he was closer to and had a slightly enlarged heart. He was on meds and was a very sweet boy. He got old suddenly, visible cataracts appearing overnight and losing mobility in his back end. He loved to be cuddled and would but when he’d had enough, he would your fingers. Kaz left his body last week. He was ready to go on to his next adventure. We will love you forever, Kazminski. #313
