Meet Merlin!
Breed mix- suspected aussie/ cattle dog
Location- Michigan, i’m traveling to New Jersey on the 6th and can transport.
Age- suspected to be around 4 years old
UTD on vaccines
Merlin came to me from animal control in Michigan, his story wasn’t very clear as to why his previous owners didn’t want him, he was HW positive when adopted and has been treated and cleared. Merlin has been with me on and off for a year, he stayed with my father for a bit of that time to see if he would work as a pet for him.
Starting with the good, Merlin is a great dock diver, and has good toy and food drive, he gets along with altered male dogs and all females as well as all people. He is lovely in the house as well as fully kennel trained. He Is good with cats as well, no chasing. Or herding
The bad, Merlin is not good in the car, he screams for the first 20-30 minutes of a drive and then proceeds to chew on his kennel door, I’ve tried medication ( trazadone) as well as bark collar , giving him chew toys and bones to try and distract him but nothing really helps. He also can be a little iffy with intact male dogs, he got into a fight with my father’s dog who is pretty low conflict and friendly generally but Merlin and him did not get along. Recently he has gotten better, but will whine the first 20-30 mins, i did put a blanket over his kennel and it seemed to help.
Merlin is a great sport candidate, but due to my lifestyle I believe he would be a lot happier in a active pet or weekend warrior sport dog home with less travel, I travel almost full time, and he truly is just very stressed in the van when it’s moving and I haven’t found anything that helps yet.
