Lastly but certainly not least-ly there’s Luma! Happy National Cat Day! Luma joined the family in early 2022. She was found alongside her siblings under an RV in rural Illinois. Her Mama was feral so once TNR’d was placed back to where she was found. While Luma, and a handful of siblings were left to figure this new life basically by their lonesome. Luma was the last one left from her litter after about a year in foster which definitely didn’t help her case. Family really does teach you so much!
She was a wallflower until she figured out that a flower like her is more noticeable in the center of a room! She’s been through a lot but she isn’t looking back! Now she’s got a sister that’s got her back through thin & thick. Koda who was deemed unsuitable for a home with cats and Luma who has never seen a dog in her life! Luma simply walked up to Koda and they have never been apart ever since! Two peas in a pod! Luma will certainly tell you all about it! More to come!

Then there was Eleven and what better occasion to introduce him than National Reptile Day! He is a Red Foot Tortoise that joined my family on November 11, 2021. He was a classic line that everyone in rescue has heard once too many times before of a once beloved pet gone boring upon a time. Fret not! Now he’s got the center of the living room and all the elevens going for him and he knows it! No ordinary tortoise either, a stranger thing for sure! He’s got extra scutes, a double pair where there should only be one! You can notice it in the picture!
Eleven you’ve got some big shoes to still grow into but I never doubted you for a second or even 11 of them!

Happy National Dog Day!
Today may just be the best date for you to meet my Koda. Whom also just happens to be the entire foundation of Trims by Em!

I often get asked what prompted me to start Trims by Em in the first place?
What lightbulb 💡 went off for me to think to bring these routine measures home, where our pets feel most comfortable?
It’s all in the paws of this girl right here! My Koda, who started it all!
Koda, PKA Whitney, a southern state rescue dog that came into my life in 2019. She was adopted from local rescue, Second City Canine Rescue. Back then, I was actively working in the veterinary field and knew all the ins & outs of nail trims and other routine maintenance measures. She humbled me when my standard approach didn’t align with her. So I dove back to the roots and embraced a beautiful thing called desensitization and made a promise never take her to the vet for nail trims ever again. Today she willingly hands over up her paws for her routine trims every few weeks! We’ve come full circle and so can you & your pet. So join me and allow your vet to focus on what they do best saving paws and I’ll trim them! Home is a much better place for all these routine measures anyways. Don’t you think? Koda would certainly agree!

P.S. I promise that your pet doesn’t want to be in attendance at the fireworks show. Take my word for it! Leave them at home, safe with their sound machine on! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

Today marks Trims by Em’s 5 Year Anniversary!
Can you spot your pet’s name in the running list?
I wanted to keep our tradition alive and honor all the pets I have trimmed over the 5 years! It still brings happy tears to my eyes every time. Most of them with us, some now looking on from the rainbow bridge, all forever a part of the Trims by Em family and my heart. To know I played a role in showing each & every one of them that nail trims have a place at home and that they are not all that scary after all means so much.
Wholeheartedly, never in a million years did I think I would be where I am today those 5 years ago. Absolutely, none of it would be possible without you & your pets!
Thank you Clients! Thank you Pets! To many Anniversaries more! The sky is our limit! Thank you for being here!
