Amaro is a one old Sheepadoodle who is super sweet and loves to play with other dogs! She’s the life of the party. Ironically though when it comes to life outside of playing with other dogs Amaro is very anxious and nervous. This may cause her to dart away or zig zag while on walks. So leash foundation will be key for her to understand the expectations on a walk. We are also building up her confidence and exposing her to new environments. Having that foundation will help guide this good time girlie in this big Chi city!

Make Training FUN🙃
Being able to get creative with what’s around you is a great way to make training fun! Once your dog has a solid foundation or understanding of what you’re looking for then you can generalize or proof those commands. Setting up your dog for success with a little warm up, clear communication and expectations. Having one dog hold a down stay while the other jumps over them is really just utilizing the foundations the dogs know and proofing them. But damn, does it look cool! So so think out of the box and make training fun

Back from getting married and exploring all of Iceland! I appreciate everyone for allowing me to take this month to really enjoy my wedding and honeymoon. As promised, I will not gate-keep pictures so once I get those everyone will get a glimpse of the best day of my life! As for now, I have missed all my SLM dogs and am looking forward to getting back to Always. Be. Training.

Champ is a 9 year old corgi who knows what he wants. He is a loyal boy and like myself, is very food motivated. We all like to be paid when we are working and Champ is no different. During this B&T we will be focusing on reactivity along with separation anxiety and demanding barking. Champ said bring on the training… but don’t forget the treats!

Remy is a beautiful Golden Retriever with a tail that never stops wagging! He lights up any room he is in with that winning smile. Remy loves getting attention so learning how to control his impulses when around or greeting people is huge for him. During his Board and Train we will be focusing on impulse control with calm behavior, working through reactivity and creating more of a dog neutrality mindset. This side tongue sucker is ready to show the people he can do it all!

Place ping pong🏓 This is a fun training game for you and your dog to play to strengthen their place command. Sending them to different boards is working not only “send to place” but helping them generalize the command to better understand that PLACE CAN BE ANYTHING! Starting with something they are familiar with like the boards then expanding that onto other different elevated objects. Ping pinging from place to place!

Off leash trail hike🌾 Clear communication with the ecollar allows for more off leash freedom for your dog. We were able to take an off leash trail hike with no problems thanks to the ecollar. This is an amazing tool that benefits you and your dog!

Thank you to everyone who made it out to Forest Glen Woods this morning for an amazing pack walk! These pack walks are great ways for dogs to properly socialize around each other. The woods are just a bonus enrichment for both dog and handler. We love to walk it out!

You can’t fake it🎭
Dogs are always going to tell you the truth. When it comes to bonding with your dog and maintaining a solid relationship, you want to be the most important thing to them. This way they know they can look to you in any situation life throws your way. Creating that type of bond is earned through trust, hard work, and lots of patience. This way you both can be successful! Once you have that solid relationship with your dog though, they will choose to follow you anywhere and that’s a great feeling.

Life is more entertaining with dogs🙃
Training allows dogs to do more things with you but let’s remember that they are not robots! Each dog has their own personality to show off so let it shine. It is easy to get caught up in having the “perfect dog” but remember each dog is different with their own struggles so take the time to appreciate the silly moments too. Let them be them!
