PSA/Plea for help
Our sweet, silly, affectionate Tux is heartworm positive. He was found as a stray so either he was on his own for a while or his people didn't give him any heartworm prevention.
Thankfully, Tux is young so his prognosis is great. However, heartworm treatment is expensive and lengthy.
We are requesting donations towards his treatment, but more importantly, we are looking for a foster home who can keep him calm/no excessive activity for the next 3 to 6 months.
His current foster home is the rescue's primary foster, so there is too much going on to truly keep him as relaxed as he should be during his treatment.
We pay for all medical treatment and food for our fosters. We just need someone to keep an eye on him and make sure he isn't too active. He is a pretty chill guy, but gets excited to see his person and give them kisses. He is also a jumper - if there's a pile of towels/blankets anywhere, he's going to find it and burrow in.
Tux is 2 or 3 years old. He DOES NOT want to be in a crate or restricted from activity, but here we are. We have to make sure he receives the appropriate care so he can live the rest of his years healthy and heartworm free.
Tux is crate trained, loves curling up in blankets and gets along with other dogs.
THIS is why heartworm prevention is VITAL. THIS is why we will not adopt to anyone without proof that their pets are current on prevention. PLEASE make sure your pets receive monthly flea/tick/heartworm preventative.
