A great reminder from our friends at Lucks Lane!

MYTH: Indoor pets don’t need a rabies vaccine.
FACT: Rabies exposure can happen unexpectedly—from a bat in the attic to an escape attempt through an open door.

Stay safe. Stay protected. 👍

🚨 Common Pet Emergencies You Should Know 🚨
Some pet emergencies can escalate quickly—knowing the signs could save your pet’s life.

Here are just a few conditions that every pet owner should be aware of:
🐱 Male cats: Urethral obstruction (can be fatal if they can’t p*e!)
🐶 Older large breed dogs: Hemangiosarcoma (often found on the spleen)
🐕‍🦺 Unspayed female dogs: Pyometra (a deadly uterine infection)
🐈 Older cats: Saddle thrombus/FATE (sudden hind limb paralysis)
🐾 Deep-chested dogs (like Great Danes): Bloat/GDV (a twisted stomach that requires immediate surgery)

🩺 If you notice any sudden changes in your pet’s behavior—especially pain, weakness, or distress—seek emergency care immediately.

At VRA, our emergency and specialty teams are trained to respond fast and treat these conditions with expert care.

🎉 Big cheers for Tallulah! 🎉

This sweet girl just finished her last heartworm treatment last week — and we couldn't be prouder of her progress! 💪🐾

She's celebrating with Dr. Hartman and Soleil, who have been with her every step of the way.

Heartworm treatment can be a long journey, but Tallulah tackled it like a champ. Way to go, girl! 💛

The 4th of July is right around the corner—and while we’re looking forward to the celebrations, many of our dogs are not. 🐶💥 Fireworks can be overwhelming and scary, turning a festive night into a stressful one for pets.

Help your dog stay calm with these vet-approved tips:
🏠 Keep them indoors in a quiet, escape-proof room
🎧 Play soft music or white noise to mask the sound
🧸 Offer comfort items like a favorite toy or blanket
💊 Talk to us about anxiety medications if needed—safe, effective options are available

Don't wait until the booms begin—let's prepare now for a calmer, safer holiday.

☀️ Hello, Summer! Today marks the first official day of summer—and while we’re soaking up the sunshine, don’t forget that high temps can be dangerous for our furry friends. 🐶🐱

Tips to keep your pets safe in the heat:
✅ Provide plenty of fresh, cool water
✅ Keep walks short and avoid hot pavement
✅ Never leave pets in parked cars (even for a minute!)
✅ Watch for signs of heatstroke: heavy panting, drooling, lethargy, or vomiting

If your pet shows any signs of heat-related illness, call us right away. And if you have questions about warm-weather care, we’re here to help!

Stay cool and have a safe, pet-friendly summer! 😎🐾
