WCPR Birthdays: Finleigh

The dandy boy of WCPR is turning six today. He has many hobbies that include: eating treats, begging for food, stealing off plates and taking naps . He lives a life of luxury with our staff member Marilyn. Finleigh comes almost everyday Marilyn works so he is frequently here. Finleigh has a personal driver named grandma that drives him daily because we all know that privileged gentleman do not drive to work, that sort of thing is for the common man. Today mom has ordered a special canine cake for the dandy to share with his friends, that is if he is willing to share.

Today we are celebrating Juneteenth! Although nationally the formal acknowledgement was late. Staff is making sure to celebrate after hours for this holiday.
If you would like to celebrate and are looking for events, there will be many points along the James River celebrating with fireworks tonight as well as many daytime events . The Elegba Folklore Society will host a celebration at the Manchester Dock, located at 1308 Brander St. The Branch museum is opening two exhibits tonight at 6:00pm.

We know that some babies get stressed out for fireworks which are going to be prevalent. If your baby is included in this group, it is a good idea to have calming jackets and medications at the ready.

WCPR Birthdays: Re*****on

Re*****on has hit many milestones, getting a family , passing his training class and now today turning four! This birthday boy comes to daycare with his brother Shepherd regularly. Re*****on loves to hang and run around the pool (not in it) and get wild! He is a very friendly dog and loves people! he is sure to party down with his friends and family to make this fourth birthday a memorable one.

WCPR's Pet of the Week : Snickers

Snickers is a most snuggly boarder baby. He loves to come out of a hiding spot whenever he hears staff coming near. We could spend hours giving him scratches if only we had the time, hours and hours to dedicate to baby! He loves sitting in our laps and when he does, he purrs. Snickers has also enjoyed time in our Kitty-cattic mesh annex. He has really enjoyed his stay this past week. We hope he comes back soon.

WCPR's Pet of the Week: Re*****on

This buddy boy is Re*****on! He comes to daycare on a weekly basis because his mom works at the Chester Animal Clinic. She is the one and only Dr. Angela Fiering! Remi is the absolute best boy ! He is gentle and sweet. He loves to talk to us and is very good about articulating his request. he loves to explore our fields. hE favors our walking trails out in our largest field . Congrats, sweet boy on making Pet of the week.

Bella Sharpe is a newly welcomed baby to our boarding facility and daycare. She loves doing her own thing whilst simultaneously being around other dogs . She takes her time walking down the hall and when sniffing in the fields. She enjoys snuggling in blankets . Congrats baby girl on making Pet of the week.

This Memorial Day WCPR would not only like to recognize US Military Soldiers that made the ultimate sacrifice for their beloved country, but appreciate their four legged partners as well. Some of these dogs put in tremendous effort and dedication for the love of their handlers and team mates.

Dogs have contributed to war efforts since what seems to be the beginning of organized civilization. They once were treated as equipment or tactical gear. Dogs have been used to detect bombs and landmines. They were also able to track, locate, and disarm opposing forces. They often sacrificed themselves to protect their comrades. Now, the culture in the Military has shifted to honor and treat our canine companions with the respect they deserve.

We would like to take sometime to highlight some of these dogs. Their stories we find incredible.

WCPR Birthdays: Rey

It's baby girls birthday today! Rey is turning five. Rey is a very sweet girl who attends our daycare regularly. She loves to bump and play with friends. She is a very happy girl who loves her family fiercely! Rey happens to be a fashionista and always comes in wearinging the cutest collars and accessories! Rey is also a most generous baby she and her parents have donated to every drive we have done this year from providing dog food to our local pantry to donating balls, toys and towels to her friends here.

WCPR's Pet of the Week: Sookee

Congrats to this sweet shiny baby girl! Sookie baby can always be found outside making the most of her playtimes. Sookie boards with us often. When she does she really enjoys cuddling with staff and is always super friendly. Such a great Pet of the Week!

Happy National Dog Rescue Day!

Let's highlight and picture some rescue dogs we know and love! And before you get all sad, Just remember that even though these babies had terrible beginnings they are spoiled beyond measure now. They have literally won the doggie lottery!

Norma-was found alongside her sister in an abandoned house. She attends daycare regularly, receives treats daily and gets to lay in every mud puddle know to man.

Monty- was pulled from a hoarding situation single wide trailer from North Carolina. He was #5 of 52. He was missing an ear and obtained facial scars before his rescue. He is now living with a single lady who makes him chef curated dog food, sleeps in her bed and has a dental plan.

Gray- was pulled from a dirty garage in West Virginia. She now lives on a farm with her siblings and gets to run and play whenever she wants! Terrorizing chickens... yes please.

Florence- was rescued from a box found in a parking lot of a Hobby Lobby in El Paso, Texas. She now works as a pattern preventer whenever mom pulls out the sewing machine. She has multiple beds... including the couch, AND she gets to eat the fancy vet food; you know the kind that costs an arm and a leg.

Raleigh- was rescued off the streets of Long Island, still dragging a chain. She now lives with our Practice Manager. She gets to take frequent naps and has her own ducky pajamas.
