I spyyyyyy my little Soda bottle bean🫣👀 Gosh I cannot even begin to tell you how much I adore this sweet little paralyzed girl. She is ALWAYS ALWAYS watching my every move & talking to me. I truly love waking up and taking care of her every day, because I can tell she really appreciates it. To say I am in love with her is an understatement. Ok sooooo good news, the object in her tummy is slowly making its way out. We have been tracking her GI for the past three days. She is pooping, eating and acting like a normal kitten so we did not rush into doing any kind of invasive anything right away. If she was obstructed, she would be vomiting, her belly would be hard and uncomfy and she wouldn’t be eating. This morning we dropped her off at our friends over at Twin Valley Veterinary Hospital. They are simply amazing to do this for us today to see what they can see on their ultrasound. These photos are from our car ride adventure to the hospital. I keep her in her little box because it’s so much easier to express her bladder instead of a carrier plus she can see what all is going on better instead of being stuck in a carrier all the time. On another note, she is starting to get some function back in her little leggies, we are seeing very small changes. She has been getting laser treatments done on her spine and I really do think they are helping, thanks to PAWS - Pottstown Animal Wellness Services. We are just so incredibly fortunate to have such amazing small private veterinary practices on our side, we could not do what we do without these amazing people & veterinarians. Fingers crossed we continue to have good news about Miss Soda🤞🏻🩷 If anyone wishes to donate please do so as she has many medical bills ahead. She also absolutely LOVES Sheba kitten wet food, it is her favorite thing in the whole world😍

Goodness my heart is breaking for this poor little dude we took in yesterday. After further examination his left eyeball is ruptured, he is in so much pain. We have had him on consistent pain meds until he can be seen today. He’s just way too small and underweight to go under anesthesia right now to have the one eye removed. He is also not wanting to eat unless I syringe feed him. I’m telling ya… does it truly ever end? It sure seems like every case we are taking in has something more severe going on. I guess it’s just the luck of the draw. Either way we will once again need further donations for his surgery and veterinary care as he is not just a simple upper respiratory infection with gross eyes. Thank you all!

Second post tonight is our newest intake. And yes he really needed our help ASAP! He was found by a delivery truck driver in a parking lot all alone. If this doesn’t SCREAM donate and if this doesn’t SCREAM we have a huge cat problem then I’m not sure what will. His eye are twice the size they should be and glued shut from infection. Sooooo on Sunday we took in Soda, a little paralyzed kitten found on the side of the road in Pottstown. She was dropped off at Urgent Vet by a good Sam to be helped due to her paralysis but all they could offer was humane euthanasia. Our friends over at Urgent Vet called us up asking if we would take her on, we of course said yes. She has a mysterious foreign object in her X-rays. Today I took her to work with me to repeat X-rays to see if this object was still present, it is indeed still present. She is still eating, drinking and acting normal BUT we are VERY suspicious she ate something she was not supposed to since she was so hungry. We are really hoping this is not the case as she could need exploratory surgery. It’s just so defeating, the paralysis is an issue in itself and to have this sprung on us is just so nerve racking. She will be going to work with me again tomorrow to snap some more X-rays and get her laser therapy on her spine. Her bladder is being expressed as needed every 6 hours or so. I am just totally in love with this girl, I cannot even begin to explain how smitten we are. I am so happy we made the choice to save her but we need your help. If surgery is necessary then funds are of course needed and I will be a nervous wreck. I can’t even explain how unique her little personality is, I would do just about anything for this little peanut. I’m hoping to post some videos soon of her little leggies once we clear this scare. We are also hoping to have a little cart made for her because all she wants to do is run run run. She has absolutely no clue she is paralyzed, it makes us so sad. If anyone has the capability to donate even just $5, it would be greatly appreciated. She is going to need continued medical care regardless. Thanks so much everyone for the continued support.

PLEASE NOTE: Calla is a vet tech for many years and has been in contact with three of our rescue vets on how to proceed in terms of an ultrasound. She is currently not symptomatic in terms of a blockage, we have also dealt with this similar situation with other kittens. Thank you!

Long story short… we have another broken kitty BUT when our friends at UrgentVet call we of course answer. Soda was brought in by a good Sam for a euthanasia well Dr. Donahoe made a last ditch effort and gave me a buzz to see if we would be willing to take on this special case. My answer plain and simple… “well it’s certainly worth a try”. She currently drags her backend but does have feeling in her toes when I pinch them which is all good signs. We are going to do our absolute best to rehabilitate Soda to the best of our ability. With special cases like this we do need the support of our community and followers in terms of donations. She will likely need her bladder expressed until we can figure out the root of her neurological problems. Best case scenario is hoping she regains this function back. Kittens are truly miraculous little creatures who can bounce back from a lot of things, we have seen it before. Her X-rays show no obvious bones broken so we are thinking some kind of spinal cord trauma at the very least. Thank you to Urgent Vet - Pottstown for putting your trust in us to take her and thank you for doing a complimentary X-ray. Also I want to thank the Good Samaritan out there who brought her to urgent vet as she was laying on the side of the road in the middle of Pottstown, your act of kindness truly prevented her from suffering anymore. Here’s to hoping there is someone out there willing to adopt her some day🤗

🛑🚨CLOSED FOR INTAKES AT THIS TIME DUE TO LIMITED FUNDS🚨🛑

I am actually convinced that the cat crisis will never end… this month has been incredibly defeating and debilitating. We are continuing to assist the sweetest people in Coatseville who are trying so desperately to feed & manage a colony around an old funeral home building. They are truly the kindest people who love the kitties they care for. We are helping them in TNR efforts to stop the growing population. There is just never going to be enough time, money or people to get on top of this. It is truly going to take some higher ups to put a stop to all of this suffering. Calla’s Critter Rescue is running low on funds, anything we do raise goes straight to paying medical bills or purchasing more vaccines, topicals, dewormers. It is just a never ending up hill battle that I am seriously seriously getting concerned about. So PLEASE everyone PLEASE continue to support our efforts. I am unfortunately closing off intake at this time. To those who we have committed to working with in terms of TNR we will continue to work with you but we cannot keep intaking cats and kittens at this rate until we get more FUNDING. We have so many spays and neuters to pay for in the future, it is ridiculous!
