5 months ago Lexi came into rescue from an unfortunate situation with over 20+ dogs. We were blessed enough to be able to pull 12 of those babies to safety.
Lexi spent years without proper care or vetting and when we took her in for her full dental in June we had a small lump on her chest looked at and it was deemed a lipoma. In July she was taken back to a vet to have it rechecked due to size change and it was aspirated. Unfortunately this showed that she had a mast cell tumor. CANCER the dreaded disease that has left it's nasty mark on so many.
Today Lexi had the tumor removed and it's being sent off for a biopsy. We are praying that it's stage 1 and that all of the cancer was able to be removed, but this was a tricky spot and we have to prepare in case it's spread. These tumors are also notorious for growing back and it's a terrifying and heartbreaking situation. We are prepared to face this journey and love Lexi through whatever comes.
Keeping her comfortable and doing whatever we can to extend her quality of life is the most important thing to us. In order to do this , we need funds and are asking for donations. Every $1 counts especially because we may have more surgeries in our future. Medications and basic supplies to help her foster are also going to add up.
