🐾💛 FRIDAY FACT 💛🐾

Did you know that many lost dog cases could be prevented with proper leash and equipment safety?

One of the most common ways dogs go missing is by slipping out of a collar, backing out of a harness, or getting loose during a walk. This is especially true for newly adopted dogs and dogs that are naturally shy or fearful.

When a dog is in a new environment, they are often overwhelmed, unsure of their surroundings, and more likely to panic if startled. A sudden noise, unfamiliar person, or unexpected situation can cause a dog to bolt in seconds.

That's why CT Dog Gone Recovery strongly recommends using a properly fitted martingale collar and/or a slip lead harness system. For skittish dogs and newly adopted dogs, we recommend using BOTH whenever possible.

Double-leashing provides an extra layer of protection if one piece of equipment fails or slips off. It only takes a moment for a frightened dog to escape, but it can take days, weeks, or even months to recover them.

✔️ Use a properly fitted martingale collar✔️ Use a secure harness✔️ Double leash newly adopted or nervous dogs✔️ Always keep your dog leashed when outside✔️ Check all equipment regularly for wear and proper fit

A little extra precaution today can prevent a heartbreaking lost dog situation tomorrow.

🐕 Keeping dogs safe is always worth the extra step.

🎇Here is a list of some of the Fireworks in CT starting this weekend 🎆

🎆 Fireworks season is starting across Connecticut, and while we may enjoy the celebrations, many dogs do not.

CT Dog Gone Recovery wants to remind everyone to please keep your dogs SAFE during fireworks season. Loud noises can cause even the calmest dogs to panic and run.

🐾 Keep dogs INSIDE during fireworks🐾 Create a quiet, safe space for them at home🐾 Keep windows, doors, and gates secure🐾 Walk dogs BEFORE fireworks begin🐾 If outside, ALWAYS keep dogs leashed🐾 Never assume your dog “won’t run”🐾 Make sure collars, tags, and microchip information are up to date

Sadly, every year many dogs go missing after being startled by fireworks. A few extra precautions can save lives and prevent heartbreak.

Please help us spread awareness and keep Connecticut dogs safe this summer. ❤️🐶
