As if we needed another excuse to celebrate cats… today is officially their day! 🎉🐾

Around here, we’re lucky enough to spend our days caring for cats of every personality. The snuggly ones, the spicy ones, the talkers, the hiders, the biscuit makers, the treat thieves, and of course the ones who make it VERY clear that coming to see us was not their idea. 😂

They keep us laughing, keep us on our toes, and somehow manage to completely run our homes while convincing us that we’re in charge.

So today we want to celebrate YOUR cats! 🥰

Sorry we’re a little late introducing our August Cat of the Month… apparently Ralphie has been far too busy soaking up the last days of summer at the beach. 😎🏖️

With the heart shaped shades, pink bandana, and some serious beach attitude, we’d say Ralphie is doing summer exactly right!

We hope all of our South Jersey Cat Clinic families are enjoying these last few weeks of summer, whether you’re squeezing in one more beach day, heading out on vacation, or just enjoying some extra sunshine at home. ☀️🌊

🌟 July Cat of the Month: Fluff 🌟

Meet our beautiful July Cat of the Month, Fluff! 💜

Fluff is a gorgeous 14-year-old long-haired sweetheart who has been part of the South Jersey Cat Clinic family for many years. Since September 2023, she has faithfully visited us every month for her Solensia injection, and we look forward to seeing her every single time. She truly is the sweetest girl and always reminds us why we love caring for our senior feline friends.

As cats age, arthritis is much more common than many people realize. In fact, studies suggest that the majority of cats over 6 years old have some degree of arthritis, even if they aren't obviously limping. Instead, you may notice more subtle changes like:🐾 Jumping onto furniture less often🐾 Hesitating to use stairs🐾 Sleeping more than usual🐾 Decreased grooming🐾 Becoming less playful or more irritable

Solensia is a once-monthly injection designed specifically for cats with arthritis pain. It works by targeting nerve growth factor (NGF), a key player in arthritis pain, helping many cats become more comfortable and get back to doing the things they love…whether that's climbing the cat tree, jumping on the bed, or simply moving around more easily.

Many of our senior patients, like Fluff, also receive Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) injections. Vitamin B12 supports healthy nerve function, red blood cell production, metabolism, and the digestive tract. Cats with gastrointestinal disease, chronic pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, kidney disease, or poor appetite may especially benefit from B12 supplementation when recommended by their veterinarian.

Senior cats have so much love left to give, and we're honored to help keep them comfortable and feeling their best through every stage of life.

Just a friendly reminder that South Jersey Cat Clinic will be enjoying a 3-day holiday weekend!

📅 We will be CLOSED Friday, July 3rd in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

🐱 We will reopen Monday with our normal business hours and look forward to seeing all of our feline friends!

If your cat needs medication refills, prescription food, or has any medical concerns before the long weekend, please give us a call before we close so we can help you prepare.

Meet our June Cat of the Month, Oreo. 🖤🤍

Oreo was diagnosed with kidney failure on August 5, 2024. From the very beginning, his family did everything they could to give him the best quality of life possible. They never missed a beat. Shortly after his diagnosis, they began weekly fluid treatments and remained dedicated to his care every step of the way, always putting Oreo first.

This afternoon, Dr. Bell and our team had the honor of helping Oreo cross the Rainbow Bridge. While our hearts are heavy, we can’t think of a more deserving cat to represent our June calendar.

Oreo’s journey is a reminder of why we do what we do. His strength, resilience, and the incredible love his family had for him are worth celebrating. Just like so many of our clients, they showed us that pets aren’t “just animals”, they are cherished family members.

Medicine has come a long way in the management of chronic kidney disease in cats. With advances in diagnostics, prescription diets, medications, supplements, and supportive treatments like subcutaneous fluids, many cats are living longer and more comfortable lives after diagnosis. While kidney disease is still a condition we cannot cure, we are grateful for the opportunity to help families gain precious extra time with the cats they love.

Oreo was truly a special boy. He touched the hearts of everyone who cared for him, and he will be deeply missed.

Thank you, Oreo, for reminding us that every extra cuddle, every head bump, every purr, and every day together is a gift. The time we have with them is never long enough, but love like yours leaves paw prints on our hearts forever.

Run free, sweet Oreo. Until we meet again. 🌈🐾
