Today I had the unique privilege of meeting a future client during her veterinary Happy Visit — and this sweet girl made quite the first impression. Everyone, meet Suki!

Happy Visits are special veterinary appointments designed to help dogs feel safe, confident, and less stressed in various settings such as the exam room and even in their own home. Some of the things dogs learn to make positive associations with in these types of visits are things like standing on a scale, feeling more comfortable around medical tools such as stethoscopes, nail clippers, or needles, learning how to wear a muzzle, and meeting the veterinary staff. The focus is on creating positive experiences through individualized plans to help dogs with the life skills they need via counterconditioning. This technique teaches dogs to turn a negative emotional response to a trigger into a positive one.

When I walked into the room, Suki didn’t hesitate when she saw me. She came right over to say hello, which was so heartwarming! I saw her practice body work on her designated mat where her owner lifted up her feet slightly, and practiced putting on and taking off her harness. I also saw her practice useful cues she learned such as “look”, “touch,” and “follow me.”

I’m really excited and honored to start working with her via dog walking and becoming one more friendly, familiar face in her world.

Seeing these boys always makes the day better! They really enjoyed the nice weather today, playing fetch, chewing sticks, and digging in the woods. You know, doing the stuff dogs should be doing on a nice day! ❤️

Ziggy was so excited for our first mile walk together! She enjoyed all the smells and the slight breeze blowing a few leftover leaves around. We saw a couple dogs sunbathing in the door window of their homes that made sure they said “bark, bark, bark” to us. Ziggy got to see people, kids, and even a bicyclist on our walk. We even walked by a school bus with the door opened waiting for school to be let out. Ziggy was curious about the bus; I almost thought she might step inside! The last ten minutes of our walk is when she started getting tired. When we came back inside from her walk, she immediately had zoomies and then jumped on the couch with her rope toy. I take it that means she was very satisfied with the quality of her walk today. 😊 The third picture is her elderly cat sister, Bebe who got her moment of attention via petting and being told how pretty she is. ❤️

Yesterday, we celebrated International Women’s Day. Every March 8th, women are recognized globally for their social, economic, cultural, and political achievements while also encouraging continued efforts to advance gender equality.

Women have always contributed to some of the greatest achievements. Since we’re a pet care business, I’d like to highlight some accomplishments from animal-loving women: Patti Moran, who in 1994 founded Pet Sitters International, an educational association for professional pet sitters; Caroline Earle White and 29 other women who founded the first American animal shelter in 1869, known as the Women’s Animal Center, setting early standards for animal care; Jane Goodall, who revolutionized our understanding of chimpanzees and inspired global conservation efforts; Daphne Sheldrick who rescued, raised, and rehabilitated orphaned elephants and rhinos through her Orphans’ Project; Ingrid Newkirk, who co-founded PETA and influenced policy to prevent animal cruelty; Temple Grandin, who transformed livestock handling and industry standards; Tia Torres, who rescued hundreds of pit bulls and changed public attitudes toward stigmatized breeds through her non-profit Villalobos Rescue Center; and dog trainers like Karen Pryor and Victoria Stilwell, who showed us more humane ways to teach and communicate with dogs.

I’m proud to be part of a long tradition of women making the world a kinder place for animals.

I love being rewarded with tail wags JUST for looking at my client’s dog. Who else knows a dog that is just always happy?

Bandita and I have a bond like no other! She knows I love her to pieces. She always greets me, gives me head boops, follows me around, chirps at me, and likes standing on my shoulders. ❤️

This is always a fun event!

I discovered an amazing product designed by a veterinary professional, and I’m so excited to share it with you! It’s a Cat Squeeze Treat Dispenser, and I’ll definitely be buying one for myself. This clever tool makes treat time more convenient by reducing mess and helping you squeeze out every last bit of treat from the tube.

Check out the video from her Etsy store, 3DPrecisionPartners below to see it in action!
