The Cherokee Downtown Arena has a new sign! But before we put the new one up, we had to take down the sign that has stood as a reminder of this place’s history for so many years…
The Cherokee Downtown Arena began in 2004 with a vision shared by a dedicated group of horsemen, women, families, and community members who believed in creating a place where people could come together, compete, and celebrate the western way of life.
Over the years, these arena grounds have seen barrel races, team roping, horse shows, fundays, exceptional rodeos, and countless other events. More importantly, they’ve been the backdrop for friendships, family memories, first rides, big wins, hard lessons, and generations of horse people coming together.
Today, the arena is being carried forward by a younger committee, a group that believes in the same values and vision that started it all back in 2004. While some things may look a little different, the heart of the Cherokee Downtown Arena remains the same.
Built by horse people. Rooted in community. Continuing the tradition.
Here’s to honoring where we came from, investing in where we’re going, and keeping the Cherokee Downtown Arena a place where memories are made for years to come.
