What is Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR)?

1️⃣ TRAP: Using humane live traps, stray and feral cats are safely captured. We work with colony caretakers to ensure the cats are handled with care and kept calm (often by covering the traps with a blanket).

2️⃣ NEUTER: Each cat is taken to a veterinarian for spay or neuter surgery. This is the most effective way to stop the breeding cycle—no more unwanted litters!

3️⃣ VACCINATE: While they are under anesthesia, the cats receive a rabies vaccine to protect them and our community.

4️⃣ EAR-TIP: A small portion of the tip of the left ear is surgically removed. This is the universal sign that a community cat has already been sterilized, so they don’t have to be trapped and brought in again.

5️⃣ RETURN: After a short recovery period, the cats are returned to their original outdoor home—their colony—to live out their lives peacefully.

TNVR stabilizes the population, reduces nuisance behaviors like fighting and yowling, and reduces the incidence of rabies in our communities.

What can you do?

We need donations to kickstart our program. We also need volunteers for transport, live traps and sheets or towels to cover the cages.

📍 Where to donate:

You can now drop off donations at two convenient locations:

What’s hiding in your pet’s ears?

This microscope view shows ear mites — tiny parasites that can cause major irritation for pets. Ear mites are highly contagious and commonly lead to:

• Excessive scratching
• Head shaking
• Dark, crumbly ear debris
• Redness and inflammation
• Secondary infections

The good news? Ear mites are treatable with proper veterinary care.

If your pet has itchy ears or unusual debris, schedule an exam with us! 🐾

🐾 Big news for our community! 🐾We are thrilled to introduce Sandhills Stray Solutions, a new nonprofit dedicated to making our neighborhoods safer and kinder for every furry friend. 🐕🐈Our mission is simple but powerful: we’re here to reduce the stray population and prevent animal cruelty through our Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Release (TNVR) program. We are currently focusing our TNVR efforts specifically on stray and feral cat colonies throughout the Sandhills region.

By focusing on these key steps, we are:
✅ Reducing shelter intake and euthanasia.
✅ Improving community management of unwanted litters.
✅ Protecting our neighbors by providing essential rabies vaccinations.
✅ Educating the public on how we can all work together for better animal health.

🚀 Help Us Kickstart Our Mission! We are officially ready to hit the ground running, but we need your help to get started. While our 501(c)(3) status is currently pending, we are actively collecting donations to fund our initial TNVR efforts.
