It is with a sad heart I write this. Last night we had to say the final goodbye to Maverick. Nine years ago this amazing dog came into my life at three months old. At the time I was working as a technician at the emergency clinic. Mav came in with parvo and his owners were going to euthanize him. They signed over ownership and I adopted him. After just a couple days of treatment he was good to go!
Mav stole my heart from day one. He was a sweet, goofy and sometimes a big ol derp of a dog. From the very beginning of my training career Maverick has been my right hand dog. He was absolutely amazing with other dogs and people. He was so skilled at reading other dogs body language and adjusting his behavior to help them in the best way. We as dog trainers need a dog/s that can communicate with thier owner species and help bridge the gap to help us rehab. Maverick was that man for me. Maverick has helped hundreds, if not thousands, of dogs and owners over the years build confidence, socialize, and learn to trust. I could not have done it with out him.
This boy has touched so many lives and will be greatly missed. Hug your pups a little tighter tonight for us.
Rest easy Mav Man.
