Update: I contacted her original owner and it turns out that she didn't know the ex-boyfriend no longer had the dog.
Greta is going back to her and we are all relieved.
Northern Michigan friends, one of our "pups" needs a new home asap.
Greta was born here 02/14/19. She's a Koda × Leena pup who looks and acts (by the sound of things) just like her mama.
Her current owner reached out to me in April, after having adopted her from the Benzie Co shelter (Greta currently resides in Interlochen). When they adopted her, they were surprisingly given her paperwork and the previous owners contract with my info.
We were both surprised that she was surrendered and the people never bothered to reach out to me...although it was the bf who dropped her off and not the woman who purchased her... anyhow.
I was happy to know she was well, spayed and in a good home.
Greta loves it there. So much that started resource guarding and protecting her home and people.
She has become increasingly jealous and possessive of her mom and they are worried about the safety of the much smaller female Corgi whom they had first.
Greta needs a home immediately or they are considering returning her to the shelter.
It hasn't been an easy decision for her family as she is a lovely, sweet dog towards her people.
It sounds like she's house trained, uses bells to ask to be let out, knows her routine and is fiercely loyal but does have separation anxiety.
She would do best as an only dog or at minimum with no small dogs/pets in the home.
She will need an active home and continued training with someone familiar with working breeds. Greta ideally needs a job or an owner who works from home.
Her dam Leena is hands down my best, most obedient dog BUT she is also a very confident, opinionated bitch who likes to be in charge of the pack and the household. She's our drill sergeant and keeps my pups in line. This can be both annoying and a blessing.
Greta and our Red are full sisters. Red is just like her mama too and an awesome dog.
With that being said, I need to avoid bringing her here, because my girls would not like it and neither will Greta. Big dogs with big egos clash hard. She would need to be kenneled here until rehomed.
We also need to avoid her ending back up in a shelter.
Her wonderful, sweet owner is willing to drive a couple hours to meet.
There is no rehoming fee for this beautiful girl but they want to place her immediately.
This could be a great opportunity for someone and for sweet Greta.
Please share to help us find her the perfect home.
PM me and I will put you in touch with her owner.
