Huge thanks to all the rescues that stepped up and took the chis from the hoarding case!! They are all on their way to better lives. 💕

Unfortunately, no one has inquired about the cats from the same situation yet. We currently have five beautiful, sweet females who are ready for the loving homes they truly deserve — 3 torties, 1 calico, and 1 grey tabby. We also have one large and in charge grey tabby male.

All six have been altered, ear-tipped, and treated for parasites. They will need adopters who are patient and understanding. These girls are not aggressive or hissy at all, but they are still very scared as they adjust to their new freedom. What they came from was horrible, but it was all they knew — now they just need someone who will respect their boundaries as they slowly come out of their shells.

🏡 INDOOR HOMES ONLY.
They were kept indoors and will need the same in their new homes.

⏳ Please remember: It can take up to 3 months for a cat to fully adapt. If they choose to hide at first, that is completely normal.

💲 Adoption fee: $60

Please reach out if you’re interested in giving one of these sweet girls the safe, patient, and loving home they deserve. 💛

Message Alex Lovett-Woodsum on FB to schedule. DO NOT call or message the shelter.

We have December dates available for low cost spay/neuter for dogs and cats at My Kids Have Paws! Let’s stop the cycle of unwanted animals.

You must receive some type of public assistance to qualify and you must live in Murray County (and show proof of both). The cost is $20 which includes a mandatory rabies vaccine. If your pet is vaccinated already you will receive $15 back after the appointment with proof of rabies shot. If you have feral cats you are willing to trap and transport we can cover the cost completely but they must be feral and brought in traps.

PLEASE only message Alex if you are ready to schedule and can pay the $20 deposit within 24 hours. She has had a lot of people waste time with messages and then disappear and this is already very time consuming to manage.

Let’s get some pets fixed!

If you have any black/white or brindle pitt or bully mixes running loose in the area of fox bridge/davenport they need to be contained IMMEDIATELY. They are going after livestock and people have every right to protect their property. One is already deceased.

📢 EXTREME COLD ALERT! Protect Your Pets & Livestock 🥶

Freezing temperatures are expected today and over the next couple of days. Please take immediate action to ensure the safety and well-being of your animals. Bringing pets inside is always the safest option during severe cold.

🐾 For Dogs Left Outdoors

Adequate Shelter is the Law.

If your dog must be outside for an extended period, it must have adequate shelter that complies with local and state laws. Adequate shelter generally means a sturdy, insulated structure that is:

Solid walls and roof - pet taxi and wire crates are not legal shelter

Windproof and Moisture-Proof: Protected from the wind, rain, and snow.

Proper Size: Large enough for the dog to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably, but small enough to retain body heat.

Draft-Free Entrance: A protective flap over the doorway helps keep the heat in and the cold wind out.

The RIGHT Bedding is CRITICAL:

✅ DO USE: Clean, Dry STRAW

Straw is the dry stalk of a harvested grain (like wheat). Its hollow structure traps air, making it an excellent insulator that repels moisture.

Pack it loosely and deeply so your dog can burrow into it.

❌ DO NOT USE: Hay or Blankets/Towels

Hay (animal feed) absorbs moisture and will hold dampness against your pet, which can freeze and actually make them colder.

Blankets, towels, and rags also quickly absorb moisture and retain dampness. They can freeze solid in frigid temperatures, leading to a much colder and potentially dangerous resting space.

🐄 For Livestock (Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Horses, etc.)

Fuel the Furnace! Livestock use a lot of energy to stay warm.

🔥 Forage Equals Heat: The digestion of high-quality hay or other forage produces internal heat (a process called the "heat of fermentation"). Provide extra hay, especially during extreme cold, to help them generate warmth from the inside out.

💧 Water is Essential: Animals can become dehydrated quickly in winter. Constantly check water sources and break up any ice at least twice a day. If possible, providing warm water (just above freezing) encourages them to drink more, which is vital for health and for digestion that generates heat.

If you see an animal without adequate food, water, or shelter in these freezing conditions, please contact dispatch for a welfare check .

Remember: Your pet depends on you to keep them safe from the cold!
