We are a dedicated and compassionate staffed facility where lost or homeless animals-and animals seized by authorities in cruelty cases-find safety and comfort, are cared for, provided emergency vet care if injured, and are made available for adoption or rescue if not reclaimed by owners. The shelter is at capacity . If your dog is here , it needs to be reclaimed before 4:00 today.
If any adopters or rescues have any interest in any dogs listed , please come in prior to closing today .

Please do not pick up any animals you don’t have a plan in place for .

Call into dispatch and we will put them on our pending list , but do not bring them to the shelter . We currently have nowhere to house additional intakes until room is made .

Avian Influenza in Georgia

HPAI has been confirmed at a commercial poultry farm in Gordon County. While risk to humans is minimal, wildlife could be affected if the virus were to spread. Wild & domestic birds, particularly waterfowl and raptors, can carry HPAI without showing symptoms, facilitating the virus's spread during migration.

What you can do:
- Don’t feed wild birds; it can cause the virus to spread.
- Stay aware of your surroundings. If you notice unusually high numbers of sick or dead wild birds in one location, report to the DNR at 1-800-366-2661 or online at https://georgiawildlife.com/report-dead-birds
- Keep areas clean where wild birds gather, if possible.
