Let me introduce you to Sally and Zero.

They came to us from a family near the coast who asked us to give them a home.

They are.....large.
Too large. They like their food. But we're working on that.

Today they had their feet trimmed, which went actually really well.

Both ladies stood nicely for miss Blair to trimm them up, and they are both walking more evenly and comfortablely now.

They are sweet, older ladies who are learning to fit into a bigger herd.

They definitely have opinions, but they are settling and even making some friends.

Ohh lawt, the pumpkins are in the grocery store. Its time for the piggies to make their feelings known.

Sometimes, when we're gifted 200lbs of strawberries, we can get a little over-excited and roll in them while we eat them. I thought it a little counterintuitive but everyone seemed to have fun, so what do I know?

Happy Shaun!!!

Shaun the sheep went off to his forever home this weekend.

Shaun has a special place in my heart. He came down with a rough case of pneumonia last winter and we were able to pull him through with lots of love and care.

He's gone off to a wonderful new hone where, as you can see, he will get lots more love and attention, as every little lamb deserves.

This sweet girl has arrived.

We've been asked to give this sweet girl a fighting chance.

This chestnut thoroughbred mare was purchased by a well-meaning family but once she arrived they realized they were in over their heads. The man who rescued Luna and got her to us was asked to come and get her before she went back to auction. He has a big heart, so he got her, no questions asked, and then looked to finding her a safe landing.

How can you look at this poor horse and say no?

I couldn't.

We only need to reimburse him the price he paid for her, which was $500. $500 for this beautiful girl. But give her a few months and she'll look like a million dollars.

Scuttlebutt is that she was part of a riding program in a past life. Let's get her healthy and see what she wants to do with the rest of her life!

If you can help us reimburse her purchase price, any amount is much appreciated. She'll need vetting, farrier, dental and a good amount of senior feed, too.

She's also going to need a name. In a few day's, once she's had time to settle, we'll see if her tattoo can be read at all, but if not, we have naming rights, so start thinking about something fitting.

This week on The Luna Show!

PEMF Therapy!

Thanks to Myles Hopton , Luna's wonderful sponsor, she got a visit from Michaela at Gris Performance Therapy.

Luna had a Magna Wave PEMF session.

PEMF is pulsed electromagnetic field therapy that sends short electromagnetic pulses through the body, reaching deep into tissue to encourage cells to heal.

Michaela focused on Luna's shoulder, knee and back.

This was just her first session but Luna got some deep release yawns and was quite spry for the rest of the day.

Michaela will be back out in August to help Luna heal some more.

Today was a bittersweet one on the farm.
We bid farewell to Holly and Charlotte.

Holly came to us in December of 2024. She had a mass on her face which was confirmed to be melanoma. As expected, it grew over time and was inpacting her ability to process food and we wanted to let her go before the cancer spread to her facial bones, as imaging showed it was nearing.

Charlotte was a former Amish workhorse. She was an old lady with very few teeth who relied on soaked mashes for her calories. But that will only get you so far, and despite huge amounts of food she was no longer able to maintain condition.

So I call it a bittersweet day because, though the loss of every one is a heartache, it is without question, a privilege beyond words to be with them when they leave, and it gives me peace to have the means to let these sweet souls go with the kindness and quiet dignity that they deserve.

There are so much worse things for an animal to endure than a peaceful death.

It is the very least we owe them.

If you are in a position to help with Holly and Charlotte's end of life costs, any amount is gratefully and humbly accepted.
