I have been a US citizen for 20 years and have always been non partisan in my politics. My experiences in Ireland where there was a 30 year armed conflict and my military service especially in the Middle East has clearly demonstrated that, apart from those fighting in the trenches the people that really have to bear the brunt are those caught in the middle. We saw that vividly after the Russians were ejected from Bucha and the hundreds of war crimes committed. This is happening to the civilian and military population all over Ukraine every day. Putin did not live up to the Budapest Accord and invaded in 2014 and lied again when he invaded in 2022. While right is on the side of the Ukrainians the suffering of the civilians continues and it is clear that the current US administration has deserted them. Perhaps it is now up to individuals to shoulder the burden? I propose that this year I will provide a 1 or 2 jeeps or pickups, fill it with humanitarian supplies and with an additional volunteer drive it from the UK to Ukraine. Sadly I cannot do this from my own resources so I would have to crowd fund the effort. It will take between $65k to $100k. The purpose of this post is to sound you, your friends and wider Facebook community to see if this is likely to attract support. My departure date would probably be June 2nd. Let me know what you think please.
