Very much appreciate the support and compassion for our K9 Responder Foundation board member. We’ll be celebrating together very soon!

Last year k9responderacademy accompanied Forgotten, Now Family Rescue to support their efforts in relocating some 50+ dogs from rural SC shelters that were going to flood. We saved a bunch of pups and some really great stories came out of that operation.

BSC also named two pups after myself and Coach Matt.

She used our last names which don’t exactly roll off the tongue 😆

But thankfully their fosters took pity on them and instead of using their government names “Dunton and Mantooth” they answer to Danny and Manny

Both are available for adoption from Forgotten, Now Family Rescue

Good to see ya, Danny. Sorry for everything 😂

Please share and help me make this right for her.

And that’s the second crash out I had yesterday. I was hanging out with 3wayplumbing | Charlotte’s Best Plumbing and dropping off some supplies to Humane Society Of Concord

I walked the kennels when we were done and on my way out the door I saw a dog I recognized. A dog called Miracle that for a moment I assumed must have been a sibling to the dog I was scheduled to begin working with next month, but had evaluated just last week.

But she was looking at me like she knew me. It couldn’t be her, the people who had her loved her, they wouldn’t return her and they sure as hell would have told me.

“Hi Lola…” and she jumped up to greet me.

The crew got to watch a grown ass man shatter on the shelter floor.

I told her I was sorry. I told her they didn’t tell me, that it wasn’t her fault, that she didn’t deserve this.

It was a hard day for human failure in the rescue world that’s for sure.

But when I dusted myself off I said “Let’s try to help” and the crew put this video together for me.

Please share it. We are sponsoring Miracle’s adoption fee and I’ll do half off my basic training if anyone is interested in that.

Miracle is available for adoption from Humane Society Of Concord

Adult language warning. Sorry y’all I try to keep it PG but this is my first of two (so far) crash outs today.

I’m tired y’all. I don’t want to hurt anyone but I’m tired so I’m just gonna speak. If you’re here for it, thank you. If you’re not, I get that too.

I got up to a case before 7am. I promised to be a nightmare to abusers in the Carolinas and some folks took me serious, so now I get up and pay the rent every day.

I take on work that others won’t, that doesn’t pay, that takes me away from the work that does, because my soul needs it. Because when I don’t feel like I’m fulfilling a purpose I’m dangerous to myself. I have to try to do something good every day so I can be here for the people that need me.

Trying to sort that and do my real job, and get out the door for pro bono work and all that.

Major had a hard day. Honestly I think it’s every day for him and I’m just seeing his reality. His family forgot him, kicked him aside and is off living their best life while he’s trying to figure out what the hell he’s supposed to be doing. I have never related more.

And when I post him, the response is great, and shares are great. THANK YOU to everyone who doesn’t let me fight for him on my own.

But f**k the virtue signalers who hop on here, promise a home and step backwards as soon as they realize he isn’t perfect, that he’s been hurt and it left scars and that there’s healing to do.

Major is not currently good with some other dogs. I expect that to change when he’s not in a place of constant stress and overstimulation. When he’s had training.

I’m over the moon for Petsuites and what they have done for him so far. This wasn’t their fight and they are right there in it. They love this dog. They are trying so hard.

We should expect immediate perfection out of NO dog that hasn’t been properly trained.

More on this in my next crash out tonight.

Love y’all.

I gotta give big props to Rubinas foster. I have run into this pup a few times now and she is one I start to eyeball for potential service dog prospects.

I get grief for not pushing breeder dogs, but I’ve had enough people tell me the rescue pup I trained as their service dog is the reason they are still alive that I’m not real concerned with others criticisms.

Whether you were looking for a capable psychiatric service dog prospect or just a fun, highly intelligent and engaged pup, Rubina (Ruby) is one to look at.

She’s available from Forgotten, Now Family Rescue

There’s a little lag for the numbers of physical copies but they are coming in. Thank you to everyone who has ordered!

I’m so stoked to have this story out there, for people to see how amazing these dogs are and God willing - inspire more folks to rescue however they can.

As far as book signings…hit me up. We’ve had some conversations about getting Mich public facing.

In case you missed it - a children’s book based on the first real life fight case I worked with Forgotten, Now Family Rescue is now available on Amazon (link in bio)

I didn’t take near enough pictures at Saturdays Forgotten, Now Family Rescue adoption event at frank’s beer shop - But here’s some of what I’ve got!

My guy Buddy got to meet my pal Paul

Jenna won the award for longest tongue

Madalyn worked all morning and still came to hang out like a champ!

Saw some great friends, and got to hang with Luna (who comes with trainer support from yours truly) and my boi Chowder, who is very much enjoying being a brew buddy dog instead of being in chains. Next stop furever big dawg!

So I was on a meeting with an attorney from one of the alphabet agencies discussing a case recently, and this person starts telling me about the fight dog they met at a conference and how they couldn’t believe how sweet and loving this dog was.

I smiled and said “Oh you met King”

“Yes, how’d you know?”

I told them “We know each other! He’s a friend from work!”

Proud beyond words of what this guy and BSC have accomplished. It’s a pleasure to get to work with him.

We had ourselves a weekend. The best dogs in the world, friends, family, some adoption events, a ban lift of flamethrower activity 😆, Mitch The Monster FINALLY available to purchase!

And a little pool time with the sweetest little man (He hates the pool, but we’re trying)

A short while back I made a deal with a friend who understands what it’s like when life doesn’t feel so bright. I told him I’d keep my lease until Saturday. Being able to commit to a week at a time was a big deal. It was mostly a joke but it was also a commitment…I’m a man of my word, so if ever it wasn’t a dark joke, it was a promise for time.

And over the last month I have just kept extending that out a week at a time.

A collection of moments like this builds momentum.

I feel like July might be pretty great.

Grateful to be feeling that way thanks to each of you. Excited to see it with y’all 🤘❤️
