Meet Monty 💙

At just 3½ months old, Monty is already weighing in at about 25 pounds, so he’s going to be a big, beautiful boy. And that coat? Gorgeous, soft, flowing, and low-shedding.

What really makes Monty special, though, is how EASY he is.

He is already:

🐾 Pottying on command
🐾 Well on his way with housebreaking
🐾 Vaccinated, with only his rabies vaccine left
🐾 Calm, gentle, and easygoing
🐾 Friendly with everyone he meets

This is the kind of older puppy that can save you a whole lot of time, work, and money because so much of the foundation has already been started for you.

Dusty is now HANK, and yesterday he headed home! 🖤🐾

This sweet water-loving boy from Daffy & Lee has landed himself a pretty wonderful life. Hank is going to grow up with two young boys and, even better, they have a creek right there for him to play in. 💦🐶 I have a feeling that creek is about to become his favorite place on earth.

His new family is connected with Spindale Florist Shoppe in Spindale, North Carolina, so if you happen to spot Hank there, please give him a hug for me! 🌸❤️

Watching them leave is always bittersweet, but seeing exactly where they’re headed makes it so much easier. Have the best life, Hank. Go make some muddy creek memories with those boys. 🥹

🌞🐾 GOOD MORNING! Who’s been swimming already this morning? 😂💦

Apparently the big black puppy crew decided breakfast could wait because the kitty pools were calling!

These babies are getting BIG, beautiful, smart, and so much fun. They’ve been raised right here with us, exposed to everyday farm life, other dogs, cats, plenty of activity, and lots of hands-on attention. We’ve also been working on crate training, leash manners, housebreaking foundations, and learning how to be good little citizens before they ever leave us.

There are some HUGE advantages to bringing home an older puppy. You get to see so much more of their personality, temperament, coat, size, and confidence, plus they already have a wonderful head start on training.

14 SECONDS. That’s all it took. 👏🐶

I’m trying to get better at actually showing you what I mean when I talk about the foundation we put into these puppies, so today I set up the camera and tripod and let Monty do the talking.

I took him outside, gave him his potty command, and in less than 14 seconds he went potty on command. 🎯

And honestly, this is what these puppies have been doing. The hard part has been me actually getting it on video! 😂 I’m learning.

Once Monty did what I asked, his reward was 30 minutes of supervised free time outside to play and explore. That’s part of how I teach them: potty first, freedom and fun afterward.

Monty is still available and ready for his own family. He is doing so incredibly well, and an older puppy with this kind of foundation can make that transition into a new home so much easier.

Magic absolutely blew me away this morning. ❤️

I took him to Tractor Supply for some one-on-one time, exposure and socialization, and I honestly could not have asked for more from a 3½-month-old puppy.

I know I raise great dogs, but with so many puppies here, I don’t always get the opportunity to spend this much individual quality time with each one. Getting Magic out by himself has really opened my eyes to just how incredible this boy is.

✨ He pees on command.
✨ He walked beautifully on a loose leash.
✨ He walked right beside the shopping cart, even though he had NEVER done that before.
✨ He calmly explored an unfamiliar store full of people, noises, smells and distractions.

And he handled it all like he’d been doing it his whole life.

I’m seriously blown away by him. This is what all that early foundation work can turn into when you start putting it to use out in the real world.

And yes, MAGIC IS STILL AVAILABLE. 🖤

Somebody is going to get one heck of a dog. He already has such a fantastic head start, and I’m going to keep working with him until his person finds him.

I’ve got video from our Tractor Supply adventure that I’ll share later because you really need to see this boy in action. 🐾

🏡🐾 Well… Magic has pretty much graduated Housebreaking 101!

I started working with Magic thinking I was going to use him to demonstrate the whole housebreaking process, but he had other plans. 😂 Every time I take him outside, he gets right down to business. No confusion. No drama. He already understands what I’m asking him to do.

And honestly, that made something really clear to me: the foundation Amy and I have already built with these older puppies is WORKING.

These pups are over three months old now, and because of the routine they’ve grown up with, going in and out consistently, crate time, supervision, repetition and structure, they are already so far ahead.

Magic showed me he knows it.
Ruby showed me she knows it.
And I’m pretty confident Monty is going to show me the same thing. ❤️

Max has also had that same foundation, but he is already spoken for. 🎉

So apparently I’m going to have to grab one of my younger puppies if I want to properly demonstrate Housebreaking 101 from the beginning, because Magic made this lesson way too easy! 😂

✨ Magic, Ruby and Monty are still available and ready to take everything they’ve already learned into their new homes.

Of course, every puppy still needs consistency when they transition into a new environment, but having this kind of foundation already in place can make such a difference.
