Fittingly, on Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, a butterfly tagged along β€” and I know it was Deacon, his big brother who blazed this path before him. β™‘β™₯︎ Muggsy never got to meet Deacon, but he hears about him all the time through our stories β€” and I think he wears that legacy with pride. They may be polar opposites in energy, but Muggsy sure resembles Deacon in his love for treatos and all the love he has to share with the world. Kuma is officially OUT of the shelter! β™‘ Today he got to hike, breathe in some freedom, and just be a dog again. Tomorrow he’ll be meeting some awesome people who are excited to get to know him.

I can’t explain how much it means to see him safe. I’ve known Kuma for most of his life, and through all of it I’ve tried to be that one constant person who never gave up on him. Seeing a dog you personally know end up in a shelter? That hits different. That’s why I’ll always fight for the ones I knowβ€”no matter what.

And to his old owners: thanks for being trash. Because of you, Kuma finally has the chance to know what real, unconditional love feels like. β™₯︎ Here’s to the rest of his story being the one he’s always deserved.
