Welcome, Dr. Ameer! 👋

Dr. Claire, Reza', and all the staff are delighted to welcome our newest associate veterinarian, Dr. Ameer Hamza, to the Charlestown Animal Hospital. Like Dr. Olu, Dr. Ameer "won the USCIS Lottery" and joins us courtesy of the H-1B employer-sponsored work visa program.

Dr. Ameer earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore, Pakistan — one of the oldest veterinary institutions in the region, founded in 1886. He graduated and passed his NAVLE exam in May 2024, the second Pakistani veterinarian ever to pass the US-required NAVLE before graduating! Until moving here to Charlestown in October, he worked as a small animal veterinarian in Pakistan, developing practical skills in medicine, surgery, and emergency care. He approaches each case with care, curiosity, and a commitment to client-centered practice.
Before joining Charlestown Animal Hospital, Dr. Ameer was involved in community-based animal welfare and TNVR efforts, which helped shape his interest in public and animal health. He believes in gentle, fear-free handling and aims to make every visit as calm and comfortable as possible for patients and their families.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Ameer loves cricket (local players are always welcome for a friendly match) and enjoys cooking—especially Indian-Pakistani dishes like biryani, karahi, and chicken pulao, which he looks forward to sharing with new friends.
Dr. Ameer is joined by his wife and classmate, Dr. Sana Chaudhari, who is also a veterinarian (though not an employee here,... yet... You may see her "job shadowing" periodically until then.) Together, they are excited to make New Hampshire their new home and to be a part of the Charlestown community.

Welcome, Dr. Elsa! 🥳

Rezá, Claire, and all of the staff are excited to welcome another associate veterinarian, Dr. Elsabeth (Dr. Elsa) Mekonnen, to the Charlestown Animal Hospital.

Dr. Elsa grew up in Addis Ababa and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mekelle University in 2014. She began her career as a clinician and lecturer before coming to the US to complete a one-year internship at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Kentucky. Her next adventure took her to Norway, where she chased the Northern Lights and earned her master's degree in Global Public Health. She returned to the US, working in municipal government and part-time in a couple of small animal hospitals over the past few years, and along the way, became a naturalized American citizen.

Dr. Elsa says she has been an animal lover since day one—and now she gets to call caring for them her job! Whether it's a wiggly puppy or a grumpy cat, she'll treat every furry friend like family. With a big heart, a sense of humor, and plenty of treats on hand, she is all about keeping pets healthy and their humans happy. She is a compassionate veterinarian who believes in building strong, trust-based relationships with both her patients and their owners. She has a special interest in dentistry and soft tissue surgery.

She says she's thrilled to continue her journey in Charlestown, practicing small animal veterinary care alongside an extraordinary team. When she is not in the clinic, you'll find her watching Netflix documentaries, dancing, skiing, exploring new cuisines, and traveling with her family — adventures that keep her curious, energized, and inspired in both life and work.

Welcome, Dr. Olu! 🎉

Reza', Claire, and all of the staff are thrilled to welcome Dr. Olumuyiwa Tolulope Ojeyinka (aka Dr. Olu) to the Charlestown Animal Hospital! He is a passionate and experienced veterinarian originally from Nigeria. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 2008 from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria’s premier veterinary school, and went on to complete a Master’s degree in Veterinary Public Health (MVPH) in 2011. With over a decade of hands-on experience in both food animal and small animal practice, Dr. Olumuyiwa has built a well-rounded career grounded in compassion, dedication, and a deep love for animals. After many years of practice in Nigeria, he moved to the United States to pursue further studies and continue growing in his veterinary career.

As some of you already know, he is currently here on an F-1 student visa which only allows him to be employed as a veterinary technician, and as such you may meet him taking your pet's history or helping the techs with blood work or vaccines. However, in mid-July USCIS did grant us an H-1B employer-sponsored work visa, (which we have been working so hard for), and that term will start on October 1, 2025!! WAHOO!!! Since he did earn his NH Conditional Veterinary License in May, you may also meet him during your pet's exam as we are starting his on-boarding so he will be fully ready to see appointments and perform surgeries here, with the Charlestown twist to what he did in Nigeria, starting in October. We feel his first 2+1/2 months with us have confirmed he is a good fit here and we are so excited to have him join our team in caring for our patients and clients

Dr. Olumuyiwa is committed to providing high-quality, personalized care for every pet he treats. He brings a thoughtful, knowledgeable approach to each case, always striving to strengthen the bond between pets and their families. His diverse background and global experience allow him to approach veterinary medicine with insight and empathy. Outside of work, he enjoys watching and playing soccer and unwinding to Afrobeat music.

Dr. Olumuyiwa says he is excited to be part of Charlestown Animal Hospital and looks forward to serving the community with warmth, expertise, and integrity.
