Pet Helpers is a nonprofit 501(c)3 Rescue and Adoption Center that serves communities across the Lowcountry. Our mission is to end the euthanasia of all adoptable cats and dogs by keeping all animals until adopted; providing low cost spay/neuter surgeries; offering humane education programs; pursuing animal-cruelty prosecution; and initiating animal-welfare legislation. We also have a high quality

, low-cost Spay/Neuter Center that is open to the public. We offer vaccines, heartworm prevention/treatment, general surgeries, and routine medical care for your pet. Pet Helpers’ vision is to offer affordable, spay/neuter services and access basic wellness services to families across the Lowcountry. We offer these services to the general public but also focus aggressively on communities with high rates of animal reproduction and pets belonging to low-income populations. Increased accessibility to affordable spay neuter services and basic wellness care will reduce pet overpopulation and help to keep animals out of the shelter system.

🚨 BRIE IS HAVING AN IDENTITY CRISIS. 🚨

When Brie first arrived at Pet Helpers as a stray, you all took one look at her face and collectively declared:

“GOLDEN RETRIEVER.” 😂

And honestly? We understand. Look at that face!

And honestly? We understood. That face was making a pretty compelling case.

But then we started looking at the rest of her…

Double dew claws? ✔️
Long, curled, fluffy tail? ✔️
Overall fluff? ✔️
Great Pyrenees-like vibe? ✔️✔️✔️

The evidence was piling up.

So after a little investigation, we’re thinking Brie is actually a Great Pyrenees mix.

And then… something strange happened.

The crowd that had been clamoring for this adorable girl suddenly got a little quieter. 👀

EXCUSE US?!

Did Brie change? Nope.
Did her sweet face change? Nope.
Did she stop being an adorable, approximately 6-month-old puppy? Absolutely not.

She’s still the same ridiculously sweet girl you fell for a few days ago. She just had a little plot twist in her family tree.

Golden? Pyrenees? Mystery mix?

Who cares?! Look at that face. Look at that fluff. Look at that TAIL.

Brie doesn’t need an identity crisis.

She needs her people. ❤️

So let’s get this girl adopted ASAP.

A little pinch now. A whole lot of peace of mind later. 💉🐾

Yes, your pet may give you the look when they get their vaccine.

But that tiny “ouch” lasts seconds. The protection? A whole lot longer.

Pet Helpers is lending a paw to Lowcountry pet parents with a Low-Cost Community Vaccine Clinic, making it quick, easy, convenient, and affordable to keep your pet healthy, protected, and up-to-date on the vaccinations required in Charleston County.

Monday started like any other day at the shelter.

Then, 23 cats arrived to Pet Helpers after Animal Control removed them from a hoarding situation.

23 cats who, until yesterday, knew a very different kind of life.

Now they have soft beds. Fresh food and water. Clean litter boxes. Veterinary care. Quiet places to decompress. And, perhaps most importantly, a little time to learn that they are safe.

While their arrival was unexpected, caring for them is now simply part of the day.

Because shelter life is more than the animals you see waiting for adoption. It’s the intake that happens behind the scenes. The medical care. The cleaning. The feeding. The behavior assessments. The countless bowls filled, beds changed and moments of reassurance that happen every single day.

And sometimes, it’s opening the door because 23 cats suddenly need somewhere to go.

For these cats, Monday changed everything.

🚨 10 DOGS JUST GOT AN EVICTION NOTICE.

Before anyone panics… they’re not being evicted from Pet Helpers.

They’re being evicted from their kennels for a weekend. 😂

We need to temporarily clear 10 kennels while our team tackles an important kennel improvement project, and these pups have got to vacate their kennels to complete the project.

🏡 HOME FOR THE WEEKEND
September 11–13

We need 10 foster homes to give these dogs a few days of couch time, walks, snacks and the very important experience of being a houseguest.

We provide the dog, food, supplies and support.

You provide the address.

* Some pups will need pet-free or child-free homes so they can have a quiet weekend to decompress and perfect their houseguest skills.

Pick up Thursday evening 9/9 or early Friday morning 9/11. Bring them back Sunday 9/13, late afternoon.

Unless you fall in love. Then we may have a very flexible checkout policy. 😉

We’ll be placing these little ones in pairs, so some foster families will need to be willing to take at least two puppies.

Rome is 5 years old, big, strong, incredibly smart—and looking for someone who understands that sometimes the biggest dogs have the biggest hearts.

Once Rome decides you’re his person? He LOVES HARD. Loyal, affectionate, ridiculously well-trained, and always ready with a big, wet kiss. And when he’s really feeling the love, you might even get one of his famous little Rome Nibbles™—his very gentle way of saying “I love you.” 🥹

He’s also got a playful side, including a serious appreciation for a good head-butt assist with a soccer ball. ⚽️

Rome needs someone comfortable with a big, strong dog and experienced enough to appreciate his intelligence, strength, and larger-than-life personality.

But the right person?

They’re going to get one heck of a loyal best friend.
