Freshly bathed and feeling good!🥰🐶

Jolene is sweet, sensitive, and absolutely stunning! And if you catch her at the right moment - she smiles!😃

She is happy, playful, and loves to explore the yard and romp around with her foster brother. Inside she can be a little skittish but is learning that living amongst the humans isn’t half bad, especially the kiddos – she LOVES them! Unlike most hounds, she really isn’t food driven, but is motivated by positive reinforcement.

Jolene will need a secure yard and would love a welcoming canine in her forever home. She is 2 years old and weighs 43 lbs. Jolene is heartworm positive is available for a local Charleston, SC area foster to adopt home. You can find an adoption application at carolinacoonhoundrescue.com/adopt

If you’d like to donate to help cover the cost of Jolene’s care while she searches for her forever home, please visit our donation page on our website at carolinacoonhoundrescue.com/donate

Ember is timid, sweet, and takes some time to warm up to new people. But if treats are involved, she’ll quietly walk over and gently take it from your hand…and then retreat.🤷🏻‍♀️ She just needs some time and would do best in a calmer home with a canine companion.

She gets along well with the dog in her foster home who is showing her how to dog the right way. Quite frankly, she is precious and we can’t wait to see her come out of her shell.🥰💛

Ember is 2 years and weighs 35 lbs. She is heartworm positive and is available for a local Charleston, SC area foster to adopt home. You can find an adoption application at carolinacoonhoundrescue.com/adopt

If you’d like to donate to help cover the cost for Ember’s care while she searches for her forever home, please visit our donation page on our website at carolinacoonhoundrescue.com/donate

Welcome our newest hound – Skeeter!😍

This handsome boy is settling into his foster home and thoroughly enjoying a life of leisure. He’s a little timid but warming up quickly! He is great with other dogs and has the absolute cutest prance as he explores his new surroundings.

Skeeter is 3 years old and weighs 40 lbs. He is heartworm positive and will need to stay local for his treatment, but is available for a foster to adopt home in the Charleston, SC area.

This article posted recently in the Post and Courier and we think it’s a great discussion. Over our 16 year history we have rescued thousands of hounds. As the writer states, it’s impossible to know where most of our intake come from, but as the founder of this rescue and the wife of a houndsman, I can tell you with full certainty that not all of the hounds landing in shelters, that also were former hunters, are “retired”. Far too many are being dumped. It was something our state seemed to be trying to help until legislation and regulations were halted earlier this year.

It’s time to make a positive change for this sport and we sincerely hope that the state revisits the issue.

We are desperate for foster families in the Charleston SC area (within 1 hour) and donations help us continue to pay the bills to get these dogs the medical attention they need. Information on fostering and donating can be found on our website, carolinacoonhoundrescue.com.

PLEASE KEEP ALL COMMENTS FACTUAL AND CIVIL. Unkind comments and name calling will not be accepted here.

August found herself alone and no place to call home and that was a concern as she was about to give birth. Soon after she found a safe space in her foster home, she welcomed seven beautiful pups! All her babies have been adopted, and now it’s her turn!🐶🤗

We’d say that she is getting her second wind as she gets to focus on herself now. She loves playing with other dogs and going for walks. And she is sure to let you know when you're late with her dinner.

August is 5 years and weighs around 60 lbs. She is heartworm positive and is available for a local Charleston, SC area foster to adopt home. You can find an adoption application at carolinacoonhoundrescue.com/adopt

If you’d like to donate to help cover the cost for August’s care while she searches for her forever home, please visit our donation page on our website at carolinacoonhoundrescue.com/donate

Holler has really come out of his shell! When we first got him, he was quite shy, but this gorgeous boy has blossomed into a loving companion.

He now spends his days playing with his toys (well hoarding them), lounging in the air conditioning, and happily receiving love. While he craves human attention, he also enjoys playing with other dogs. And as with most hounds, he's treat motivated! And now Holler is ready to find his forever family!

Holler is 3 years old and weighs around 55 lbs. Interested in giving this handsome hunk a place to call home? Apply to adopt at carolinacoonhoundrescue.com/adopt
