In light of the intense interest in the potential link between diet and dilated cardiomyopathy in dogs, here is some helpful recent information released by the FDA. Many of the pet foods that are getting the most attention are grain free and appear to contain a high proportion of peas, lentils, and/or potatoes. It is important to understand that the brands that are named in this report are not necessarily to be avoided and most companies produce many different formulations. There is still a lot to learn about this subject and the research is ongoing. Please reach out if you have any specific concerns about your pet’s diet!
