Michael's Barkery Pet Spa, Boutique, and Bakery All of our dog treats are made with high quality, nutrient rich ingredients in a state of the art kitchen.

Michael’s Barkery is a fun and innovative Pet Spa and Boutique that opened within Central Island Square, on Daniel Island, in the Fall of 2019. Our mission is to provide opportunities to make a difference in the lives of adults with cognitive disabilities while having fun supporting animal lovers. Our teammates are involved in all aspects of our production including making dough, cutting out the c

ookies, baking, and packaging. We would love an opportunity to meet with you, show you some sample cookies and options, and introduce you to some of our teammates. The magic behind Michael's Barkery all started with Michael! Michael was known as “The Mayor” at his New Hope Pennsylvania High School because of his engaging personality. Everyone he met knew he had a beloved dog named Sunshine. When it came time to do a senior project, with the goal of exploring career aspirations, the easy answer was for Michael to bake and sell dog treats. The treats were an instant success! This small, inspired event led to the vision and creation of Michael’s Barkery. Throughout Michael’s life his parents have tried to choose paths for him that would not limit him because of his intellectual disability but rather would focus on his strengths and abilities. If you think about it that is what everyone does. Everyone has things that they are good at and things we are not. Everybody all have likes and dislikes, as well as, their own gifts and talents. At Michael’s Barkery we recognize that everyone has God given talents and our mission is to offer employment to people with intellectual disabilities and utilizing their talents and abilities where we are able. The Barkery is excited to have a new Teammate on board! Braden has been doing a wonderful job learning the ropes, interacting with his coworkers, and gaining independence in the kitchen. We’ve really enjoyed chatting with him about his job at a doggy daycare and his extensive animal knowledge. We’re so happy to have you, Braden!

The Magic behind Michael’s Barkery

Michael’s Barkery will be a Pet Spa and Boutique, opening on Daniel Island, SC in a newly fitted out 2,500 sqft retail space within a large pet friendly community. We will offer fresh, locally sourced, homemade treats, unique pet themed gifts, pet supplies and grooming services. We are passionate about animal health, happiness and care, and we want to share our knowledge and expertise with all animal lovers in our community.

Michael, the young man who’s the inspiration for the Barkery, was known as “The Mayor” at his New Hope Pennsylvania High School because of his engaging personality. Store owner’s Scott and Karen have tried to choose paths for Michael throughout his life that would not limit him because of his intellectual challenges, but rather would focus on his strengths and abilities. If you think about it, that is what all of us do in our lives. We all have things we are good at and things we are not. We all have likes and dislikes, as well as, our own gifts and talents. At Michael’s Barkery we recognize that everyone has God given talents and our mission is to offer employment to people with differing abilities while utilizing their talents and abilities where we are able.

The Michael’s Barkery mission is to provide opportunities to make a difference in the lives of other exception individuals, like Michael, while having fun supporting animal lovers.
