Today I am turning my passion into reality. I am serving in a new way. Dog training is a skill I started to develop at a young age. 20 years ago I received my first dog, an American Bulldog from a United States Marine Veteran. I started by learning how to walk a dog bigger than me. A lifelong outside dog that was only familiar with his handler walking him for an hour every morning. I had to quickly learn how to stop the jumping, hu***ng, and leash pulling. Thank you Gunny.
My second dog, a pit mix. Given to me from a local college kid who had no time for a puppy. In just junior high myself, I wanted to explore a bit more working with my first puppy. I quickly learned during a game of tug of war that dogs aren't much different than humans... they lose puppy teeth then grow adult teeth, I thought at first I ripped the dogs teeth out and began to panic. It was all part of a natural growth process thankfully! Thanks Remmy.
Fast forward to the end of my collegiate football career, I needed to find something to do and work at to keep my mind off of football. My girlfriend at the time (now wife), always loved to go look at the dogs at the local animal shelter. Pregnant at the time, she pleaded that when I worked nights she wanted extra protection and support while I was gone. We got Blue. Blue, a 9m old mix became part of our family. He immediately was royalty in the house. The wife got a great support and security, and I got a hiking and training buddy. We spent everyday for years going to state parks or local dog parks. Thats when I started to train recall and off leash commands. As we furthered our journey we started to do more sport style training by pulling sleds and working on obedience style bite work for quick exercise. Blue continues to be a great part of the family. While our family was growing, the wife and I decided to be a bit crazy and get one dog per child because why not... as a kid I was fascinated in sled dogs and huskys. We found Max, a 9m old husky/shepherd from a local pound. Max was different, he was full of anxiety and didnt know how to play with humans or other dogs at first. This is where I quickly learned that all breeds can be very different. The requirements and drive are specific for different breeds and dogs. Tug of war and fetch did not do it. Leaving and not having the house torn up due to anxiety became a quick problem in our rental. I had to learn crate training and how to control anxiety. Max was very stubborn which made me patient, adapt, and think outside the box. Max ended up loving cuddles, walks, and playing with other dogs with lots of barks. Max and Blue became a dynamic duo. I was able to learn how to train two very different dogs and train them to train at the same time. Obedience training was key. Thanks Max. -Max now lives with a good friend of mine that needed a trained dog on his family's tree farm after their dog passed away.
After we bought a house on the outside of town, we had a big yard and a nice setup for the dogs with a park next door to elevate training. I adopted a young female German Shepherd that my coworker rescued from poor conditions. Coworker also had a retired dual purpose K9, at the same time that he was homing the young female GSD. I quickly adopted the female GSD from my coworker, soon to find out she was having puppies with his retired K9 unknowingly. Within weeks of having her, I decided to take on the challenge of having 3 dogs and puppies. THIS was a CHALLENGE. My life consisted of a wife and two young kids, 3 dogs and now very hi drive puppies. I knew I could care for them, I was able to get all the puppies homes. I even kept one male (KODA) to have my very own working line GSD. Thanks Nala.
Fast forward to current times. I have Blue, Nala, and Koda. Koda I have worked and trained since day 1 of birth. He is now a stunning intact male. He is approximately 90lbs at 21 months old. He is a very high drive K9 like his dad. He is NOT a police K9 but he is a well trained protection dog. Koda has allowed me to fully grasp my ability to train dogs. He is a product of my hard work and models my ability to train in a wide variety of ways. He can show ON/OFF mode by verbal or non-verbal commands. He is very well versed in a list of commands and likes to show off his prey drive while working. He is the face of the company "BrokenArrowK9s.LLC". Thank you, Koda!
All my dogs will be used to demonstrate my skills on social media. I take the upmost pride in working with dogs. I deeply believe in a well trained dog. A untrained dog is a hopeless dog. Too often dogs end up with a low quality of life, simply because they aren't trained. Most owners dont have the knowledge or time to train their dog. Most people assume it will be easy or the dog will just learn on their own. Quick to find out they learn (bad habits) on their own. Dogs end up in shelters because owners don't give them a chance. Many owners love their dogs and like to think they are like a child. If this is you, I ask you to reach out for my services. Dogs should regularly be exercised, trained in obedience, or even given a job. I can exercise your pup, train your pup, and work your pup into what its breed was made for. Your dogs quality of life is important as its short enough. Dont pay extra for vet bills because you lack time.
***Additionally, in the near future will be BOARDING. It will be daily for a doggy daycare or full pupcation while you go out of town.
