We can’t let broodmares get all the attention this fall! Our program has evolved a great deal over the years.

Today, our breeding program is managed and operated by Lisle Quarter Horses, which is Becky Prunty Lisle (5th generation), her husband, Rolly, and their sons.

The Lisle studs complete the equation of our horse program with some of the best performance horse bloodlines available.

Horses are offered via private sales, as well as being regularly consigned to the Shelman Family Ranch & Performance Horse Sale and the Van Norman & friends Production Sale.

We were blessed with great help and a perfectly beautiful day to move our broodmares to winter range. It’s about 35 miles from the ranch and takes about 8 hours. We bring them home in the spring to foal in our big, brushy home fields. We have carefully curated this bunch of mares over the years; they are healthy and hardy, and raise their foals the way nature intended.

Today, I (Becky Prunty Lisle) retired my 20 + year old camera bag because the zipper of the main compartment is worn out. I bought it when we invested in our first digital camera, which cost around $1200 if I remember correctly. That camera was probably roughly comparable to the kids’ digital cameras you can buy today for around $50, but back then, it was one of the best we could buy.

That camera, and then its successors over the years, were carefully stowed in this backpack-style bag and mostly carried on my back as I bounced out through the sagebrush on an ATV to find the stud bunches and photograph foals for sale.

It’s maybe a little silly to be sentimental about such a thing, but through hundreds of miles and thousands of photos, this little bag has been a huge part of our horse program. It helped us show our horses to the world, and over the years we have sold horses to many states, and even to buyers in Mexico, Spain, and Italy.

Thanks for all the help, little red buddy.
