Let’s talk about one of my biggest PET PEEVES… and I’m gonna use this horse right here as an example… just because a horse can be ridden in a one handed in bridle doesn’t mean they should be!! If you are using your hands more than feet to control them then there’s an issue. You need to have ribs before you have face. Roany is BROKE BROKE BROKE! But what he lacks sometimes is wanting to give in his face and still give me his back and keep his shoulders up and square. And instead of pulling on him constantly one handed I’d rather go back to the basics and ride him in a snaffle, break his body apart, get his ribs and his face. Use the draw reins to pull him into me. Just get him soft and not relying on one hand. Your bridle horses should be able to be ridden out of your feet with small over corrections or warm ups with two hands then go to one! And that’s my rant for the day!
