I know it’s been quiet over here lately and we’ve gotten a couple of questions about when we will have foster kittens again. The answer to that is…we aren’t quite sure! Right now we want to take a break from adding in new fosters so we can focus on actually completing the loft AND put our full focus on Rosie and her ongoing skin issues.
Yesterday we took Rosie to the vet and the skin culture showed that she (again) has bacteria that she needs antibiotics for. The vet said that, unfortunately, this bacteria is extremely resistant to antibiotics so there is really only one option to try. While figuring that out, we are still trying to find Rosie some relief from how itchy she always is. We’re starting cytopoint injections and we’re hoping this might help her feel more comfortable!
The vet has been pretty honest that Rosie’s skin problems are starting to exhaust her expertise and if we can’t resolve the bacteria or the itchiness with the few options left to us, then she could make a referral to a vet dermatologist. The problem with that is that the closest one is 45 minutes away, Rosie hates car rides, and the ever present issue of how expensive life is.
Which is another reason we aren’t planning to add any fosters for awhile…fosters can get expensive! We always end up spending more money than we anticipate with a group of kittens and right now the cost of Kanga and Rosie monthly supplies (food, litter, medicines, toys, etc) on top of Rosie’s vet bills (which I attached a picture of) means we are a bit maxed out at the moment.
I hope you keep following along (even if we’re kittenless for awhile) and we truly want to say thank you for all the support ❤️🌹 We go back to the vet in three weeks to see if Rosie has responded to the antibiotics 🤞🏼
