Just a quick update on my Lexi girl. It has been a bit of an experiment with her diet but I don't think she'll be going back to dry food. She is now only eating Pro Plan lamb and oatmeal canned food mixed with water pumpkin and a probiotic. Seems to be working pretty well. For now anyway LOL. So I have a full unopened large bag of Pro Plan lamb and rice dry food that cost a small fortune but I would love to pass it on to one of my clients for less than half. Can any of you use it? $40

This 9 1/2 year old sweet kitty has found herself in a sad situation and needs a new loving home. Her family wants to make sure she gets a good family who will give her the love she deserves. I haven't met this girl but completely trust her info is accurate ( family member of very good clients. They can't help due to allergies) please let me know if you're ready to add a furry little one to your family! Thanks for any help

I don't normally advertise but I do have to give this company a huge shout out. This is not Lexi but wow! This is a metal wall hanging that popped up from a site called flagwix. Excellent customer service! The metal hanging did not disappoint. It's beautiful! This sweet, resilient, life loving girl is 13 today! I couldn't possibly love her more. She wasn't posing this morning though LOL Happy birthday Lexi!

This is the intake line outside CACC and it's like this every single day. 📸

In just the first 20 days of May, we’ve averaged 56 animals coming into the shelter per day, a jump from April’s 54 per day. That may not sound huge, but at this volume, every increase stretches our already limited resources to the brink. 💔

Many of the pets in this line are arriving as strays. But many are also being surrendered by their owners... people who likely love their pets, but may not know what else to do.

🙏 If you’re thinking about surrendering your pet, please understand:

➡️ You know your pet better than anyone.
➡️ You are their best advocate.
➡️ Rehoming directly gives your pet the best chance at landing in the right home.

When a pet is brought to the shelter, they become one of hundreds. In a noisy, unfamiliar environment, even the best pets can shut down, making it harder for them to stand out. 🐾

By rehoming your pet directly, you can share their likes, needs, routines, and quirks. These are things that can make a family fall in love. ❤️ That’s information we just don’t always receive.

CACC should be a last resort, reserved for animals truly in crisis.

And we want you to know, you don’t have to make that decision alone. PAWS Chicago is also onsite at CACC five days a week during intake hours to help with diversion support. Talk to us first. Learn what resources are out there. Let’s explore other options before you get in line with your family member.

Just a quick update on Lexi with a purpose too. She is still doing amazing after surgery! Little things that she never did before like curling up in a ball were not possible and she's taking advantage of it LOL. It's so good to see but she began having some digestive issues before surgery which I still relate to that large lump that was on her side. I believe it was pushing on something that caused her distress when eating and she was having a hard time keeping things down. The result was that she didn't want to eat much of anything and it's been a struggle to figure out what will work for her. She has been on Eukanuba all of her life from puppy stage to senior and has been so healthy as a result. She'll be 13 in July so it definitely did its job but the large pieces seem to be harder to digest so I tried to switch to Pro Plan which she really wasn't too interested in at all. Like I said she really wasn't interested in eating much no matter what I tried including chicken and a variety of canned foods. Desperation got me making a homemade mixture of boneless chicken thighs as opposed to breast because they are a little less dry. I have been shredding it and mixing with rice, a probiotic packet, a little handful of her Pro Plan and a little warm water. She is devouring it!! In the last 3 days she has eaten about 9 thighs, almost 2 boil in bags of rice, 3 pkts of probiotics and several handfuls of her dry. More than she has been eating in weeks! I can't wait to weigh her again. So if anyone is having a hard time getting their dog to eat I would suggest giving this a try to get them started! I'm hoping to get her back on her dry food at some point but for now I'm just happy she's eating

We are having an Open House!! We are getting very close to capacity on dogs here at Animal Control. Unfortunately, we cannot house large numbers of dogs like shelters can due to the size of our facility. SO, we are doing everything we can to get these dogs a permanent home.

Our open house will be on April 25th from 10:30-3:30. The 7 dogs that you see below are the dogs that we will be showing. We encourage you to come out and meet them even if you are not looking to adopt. Take pictures of/with the dogs and post them for us! Tell your friends and family about the AMAZING dogs you met! Anything to help spread the word could change these babies lives. 🐕🐩❤️

Just a little over a month after surgery and you can barely see the scar! Dr Simon did an amazing job with this girl and has given Lexi new energy!! I seriously can't say enough good about Dr Simon and her staff at Minooka Animal Hospital
