Thanks to all users efforts, the Lake Minnewashta off-leash dog area will remain open! We’re sincerely appreciative to everyone who turned out throughout the week to return the facility to a sanitary, pleasant and safe condition. We remind everyone using County Regional Parks that the law requires you to pick up after your pet. We are highly interested in working together to keep this popular facility sanitary and safe (and open!) for all visitor by relying on continued proper use.

If you're (or someone you know) is a user of the off-leash dog area be sure to read the below. Clean-up can happen now, don't wait until the weekend.

Dog Park Users:

The recent lack of facility upkeep by patrons has led to unsightly & unsanitary conditions. In order to keep the facility open, cleanup events are scheduled on-site on both Saturday Feb. 8 & Sunday Feb. 9 from 8:30-10:30 a.m. During these hours, County staff will be on-site to provide buckets and shovels for our patrons/volunteers to clean-up the site. Please bring a tool to assist in the effort.

Conditions must dramatically improve by Monday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 a.m. for the off-leash area to remain open.

If sanitary conditions are not met, an indefinite closure of the facility is planned until sanitary conditions are achieved.

Please be aware County Ordinance requires any person in a park with a pet to possess an appropriate device for cleaning up pet f***s and disposing of in a sanitary manner.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Huge news, the County Board eliminates park entrance fees to all 3 regional parks in Carver County! This monumental change begins on Dec. 1st 2019, so do plan to be properly permitted over the next few months.

This is an outstanding public service and will greater access for all people to get outdoors and seek to live a healthier lifestyle!
