So today unfortunately wasn’t our best day either but I am so proud of myself and Flower. Three months ago we still couldn’t do a line of changes at all and we just did a totally respectable job at three CDIs in the small tour. I have done a lot of things in my horse career and this has been one of the most rewarding experiences. It was a good end to a good season and now we pack up, get home, take a little time off and tackle the next goals ✨

So happy to be here competing at WEC in the CDI for our third week in FEI. It’s fun but man it’s also humbling. We had a little oopsie daisy in the PSG where I ride two lines of threes, not entirely sure why, which kept us just out of the ribbons and really made me frustrated with myself. But today is another day and another chance and I’ve learned with this sport you can’t dwell you just have to move forward and do the best you can! So glad to have here by my side for our last show of the winter season. She has been with us through our entire journey and I’m so thankful. Good vibes today for the Inter-1! 🏅💃🏼

This season has been full of so many magic moments. One more CDI left at WEC Ocala before going back home to Ohio. I love competing with my Flower girl but I also miss my house and bed and plants 🪴😂

This week Flower and I did our first senior CDI competition. I am so proud of us. This season we really put in the work to get better and it paid off in the ring. We didn’t win and we didn’t even get a ribbon, but I have trained this horse myself and I’ve come to a place in my life that the experience truly is enough. I love showing FEI, and wanted to make a horse that could take me there and here we are. I’ve had such a great journey with Flower and it shocks me every day just how much I love her. Thank you to Ashley for the unwavering love and support and friendship and coaching through good times and bad, and again to Caroline and Lisa for helping me buy this horse sight unseen four years ago. It’s been special. Onto the next show! 💃🏼

Super thankful to have been asked to steward Terra Nova this winter for their four two day CSI 2*s. The venue and its people are amazing and the format worked perfectly with my schedule. Hoping to be back next year and also looking forward to taking flower for the CDI in a few weeks!

A Passion for High Performance

Cassandra Hummert-Johnson was born and raised in Northeast Ohio on a family farm that offered carriage and sleigh rides to the public. For years Carriage Trade Farm bred and raised Norwegian Fjord ponies for use as harness horses. Because of fjords’ gentle nature and easygoing attitudes, these ponies were ideal for use with the public. Although she grew up driving, Cassandra wanted to ride, and was given her first pony, Thor, at the age of 7. When all attempts to convince Thor to jump fences failed, Cassandra signed up for a dressage show, in an attempt to win a ribbon without having to jump. From that first dressage show, Cassandra never looked back, and ended up finding a trainer with whom she trained throughout her junior years and bought and rode many horses.

With the help of influential trainers and clinicians, Cassandra studied and strived to take advantage of the US pipeline system for young riders. She competed in the FEI junior, young rider, and Brentina Cup/Under 25 divisions- programs created by the USEF and FEI to progress the next generation of dressage riders to the international Grand Prix ring. During her youth years, Cassandra learned the importance of international sport horse care, both in health and in fitness. In the span of 4 years she was repeatedly invited to notable championships and successfully competed at elite competitions throughout the eastern United States including the Festival of Champions, the North American Junior/Young Rider Championships, the Kentucky Classic CDI and the Palm Beach Derby CDI 3*.

Today Cassandra runs her training and teaching business out of Chardon, Ohio. She accepts clients of all ages and levels, but especially enjoys introducing children and young riders to dressage and dressage competition. She frequently travels the Midwest during the summer to compete, and winters in Wellington, Fl to have access to the top CDI competitions in the world. She strives to give her horses the most elite level of care, and paired with a fantastic facility, all Cassandra’s equines are happy, healthy and fit. Cassandra’s students rave about her straightforward, intense, but rewarding lessons. She accepts horses and riders for full training, and is available to teach clinics as well.
