Rocky is making slow progress. He came to rescue very traumatized and is taking his time getting acclimated to home life. He now wags his tail and gets excited when I come home. I’m allowed to pet him gently, but still no picking him up. He’ll hop up on my lap and wants to be in the same room with me but still won’t sleep in the bed. He has his bed beside mine and that makes him happy.

Time, patience, and love. Little by little, the shell will crack.

Everyone changes as they get older. The same thing happens with our furry family members. Watching these changes is a reminder of how short life really is.

Trey is 14 years old and has been dealing with diabetes for awhile now. We are having trouble keeping his sugar level under control. His health is changing very quickly. He's gone almost completely blind and he moves slower and gets confused easily.

Trey's been my goober boy since he was just a pup. I find myself reflecting about the different moments in our lives together. We've had many adventures and there has been lots of love throughout the years. It is hard to see him getting older, but it is how things go with the ones we love.

The latest blood work results showed a possibility of either Cushing's or cancer. More tests would need to be done to determine exactly what it is. At his age, I will not put him through harsh treatments to extend his life when it won't improve the quality of his life. He is loved and taken care of.

I will enjoy his company in my life for whatever time he has left.

Our first fundraiser of the year is almost here! We will be at the Abingdon Largest Indoor Garage Sale! Entry fee is $2 and goes towards supporting education programs. Molly says HI!

We welcome her to our crazy foster pack and she fits in like she’s been here forever. There was a quick trip to the vet after Christmas for an upset tummy. Thankfully she’s all better now.

Molly is fully vetted and ready for adoption. She’s friendly and active and would love a buddy that matches her energy. Don’t let her approximate age of 8 years worry you, she is healthy and happy with many years ahead of her.

Welcome Rocky to my foster pack. He’s one spicy little dude. He’s been through some rough times and needs time to decompress.

At the moment, Rocky only allows touching on his terms. I haven’t lost any fingers yet, but he has let his displeasure known. He’ll hop up on my lap and lie there for hours, just don’t touch. I can see that he wants love, but doesn’t trust that it’s possible.

I just know Spike sent this little guy to me. Spike was a tough nut to crack as well. Just need lots of patience and respecting Rocky’s boundaries. We’ll get there one tiny bit at a time.
