Does anyone remember Alexis Wrangel, riding instructor at Potomac Equitation in the 1970s? He was an amazing instructor, he taught true cross country riding, where we even jumped fallen trees and forded rivers! I have never ridden like I did when he was teaching me. An amazing instructor with a fascinating story.
Finally got to cleaning the basement. Here are a few photos of my fondest memories. If you see Paul please tell him hello from Kimi. He was such a good friend to me and I missed him when we moved. ✌🏻❤️
The ribbons are yours if you want them. They are faded and not in great shape since they are over 40yrs old.
1979 Potomac Equitation trophy. No idea who I was riding but Megan Smith bought Amber Eve that year. Anyone else remember Amber Eve?
Today I rode for the first time in a long time..made me miss Jackie and devoe..amazing the amount of training that stays with you..I'm a little sloppy but I'm confident with time and some more lessons I will be comfortable again..
Found some slides my Dad took of me in the early 70's at Potomac Equitation. Good to see the land wasn't developed. Once I get the scans labeled I'll upload them here. I remember riding there, and a New Year's Eve sleepover.
Meanwhile, found this article from 1981:
Long ago, and not so far away. These were photos taken at various Potomac Equitation locations. The first one was out in the middle of a field somewhere, that I can't remember. The 2nd was at the end of the road, near Camp Furman, in Potomac, MD. The last was the big farm outside of Vienna, VA.
