Wild Weast Show Pigs and Breeding Stock

Wild Weast Show Pigs and Breeding Stock Small breeder of club pigs, crossbred and purebred breeding stock and off-season, summer weaner pigs.

We are breeders of Hamp/York/ Exotic crossbred and purebred show pigs. We operate with a various closed herd ranging from 8-12 sows and 2 boars. Each year we research and are very selective when purchasing semen from proven sires with offspring that have hung several banners. We believe with as many repeat buyers we have and their confidence in our show pig and breeding projects, that our stock speaks for itself as to the quality and satisfaction from buyers.

Our stalls are filling up with December and January litters and February litters to go. Our list is just being started and kids will go on in the order of non-refundable $150 deposits received (unless we cannot fill the order due to unforeseen losses). All crossbred showpig genetics and some pure influence that promise to be quick and easy growers. Look for genetics out of Cowboy Swag, Wedding Night, Tombstone, Transition, Choir Boy, Prince Charming/Transition, Pit Boss, Snafu, 200K, and Heavy Weight. The majority of our gentics are proven and consistent allowing us predictable growth prediction of our litters. We also have a few gilts/sows that had excellent show careers purchased from RWG Genetics of Texas and Ottenwalters of California that managed to fold into our herd and breed on. The backbone of our herd hails back to Shipleys Swine Gentics that have proven to be quick growers, and offer longevity with foot and bone size for breeding stock.
If our sow reduction does not all sell as advertised previously, we will be farrowing them all and will have 10 litters to pick from. Located in Central Point OR. We even have pure Spots for the first time sired by Truck of Shipleys if you are looking for something different or would like to compete in purebred classes. PM for more information or text between 8-5 or call after hours or weekends. 541-890-8930. The barn will empty the first week in March as the December and January list fills and again the first week in April/May with the February litters.

Due to no fault of their own, we are reducing our sow and show herd. If I could keep them and had enough room and time, they would stay.

I'll say my time on convincing anyone of the value. I know my stock grows fast as I've generations to prove so. The boar Hot Take is a no-brainer to have in your crosses. The value of the litters alone is worth more than each sow's asking price even though later born. I've no doubt the pure-influences will catch up and outrun many of the cross-on cross-bred show pigs this year. I bred them specifically to keep them. My loss will be your gain. Full-time day job and running a bigger breeding herd by myself has proven to be too difficult.

2024 Xbred Arizona National competitor (middle of class). Pit Boss X Cowboy Swag X Hillbilly Bone sired by Prince Charming/Transition. Due Date March 3. Fast-growing bigger-bodied breeding gilt bred with a fast-growing, big-footed sire. $2500. Due date March 3

Pure-York influence Xbred gilt: Choir Boy X Hot Take bred by Prince Charming/Transition boar. Due date March 13. Big-bodied, big footed, correct with lots of natural muscling. The kind I like for my mommas. $2500

Litter mate to above: Pure-York influence Xbred gilt: Choir Boy X Hot Take bred by Prince Charming/Transition boar. Due date March 3. Big-bodied, big footed, correct with lots of natural muscling. The kind I like for my mommas. $2500

Black 2-year-old 2nd parity gilt. Bred 11/19/24. Unconfirmed. Quitten Time X Cowboy Swag/Hillbilly Bone. $600. Good mom and a milker. Bred or not $600. Great deal as this is what sausage sows are going for.

Approximately 700-750 sausage sow $600
100+lb weaner pig $150

Fall Show gilts
Purebred York Gilt, May born of Shipley Swine Genetics. Big bodied, footed, and perfect breeding piece. We do not have room to fold her into our herd. She cost a pretty penny. Asking what we paid to get her here. $1750

Pure black crossbred, May born of Taipin Show Pigs. Tricked Out X Junior on an OCD X Wedding Night. Medium frame and even has some show life in her if you wanted a bigger spring show gilt. $850

Purebred Duroc show barrow. Big boy 300lbs. Off show feed and on sow feed for a couple months. He's ready for butcher. $600.

Goat, yes, we have a goat. Granddaughters breeding goat from last year. Boer. Don't ask me anything about genetics. Looks like a goat and sounds like a goat, and likes to beat up on our show pigs. I don't know if this is normal goat behavior or not. Big enough to breed. Asking for what my granddaughter has into her $600.

Two younger gilts June born never on show feed June born

Gilt 1 Choir Boy X Princess (our easiest farrowing sow) who is a Pit Boss X Tombstone/Wedding Night cross $400

Gilt 2 Choir Boy X Matilda (Ottenwalter) Snafu X Shine Again/225K. This gilt is beautiful and we have held her back to fold into the herd. She is built like a show pig, looks like a show pig, and will make a very competitive bigger spring jackpot pig. I've kept saving her back as we sold pigs, but just can't fit her (unless the rest of the pigs above sell first). $800

Pics of most of the above are attached. I'm not a pro and some photos were taken before the pens were cleaned and bedded. I've yet to photo the pure-influences and will get them done as soon as I can. Please PM or reach out to 541-890-8930.

Update: breeding is done. Now to see if they settled. Still weaner pigs and some over 100lbs by now. Prices are the same as before. You can’t beat a $200 price tag in a quality 100+lb pig or 4 for $175. Also, there are several superb quality show pigs that are that would do excellent for fall/winter jackpots and/or fairs. I challenge you to find a similar one in quality for $200!

Time got away from me as I got my Antelope tag! Now filled and back home, it’s time to move some bacon!! May/June. $200/ea with discounts for groups of 4 or more and deeper discounts for larger groups. Some are up to 80-90 lbs now. Some bred as fall show quality and others definitely just average weaners. Also reducing sow/gilt herd and all are on matrix except for 4 which will be going on Matrix soon. Dates of breeding scheduled for 9/2-9/5 with expected due dates of 12/25-12/31 approximately. Show quality gals will be bred with show boar semen. Pm for more information on them. Starting prices at $1500 bred or you can order your own semen and send here for breeding or get them when they are ready to stand. I have an extremely high settle rate.

Our 90th birthday trip is winding down and now we scout for camping spots before our Antelope hunt. Saw some beautiful up-scale homes built in the 1930s. Brads cousins home hosted the birthday festivities in McCall. The history was of a movie starring Spencer Tracy when shooting the moving Northwest Passage. When tons of rocks were hauled to this location and photographs were taken, the rocks were deemed too “bright.” The movie site was abandoned and this site purchased by a doctor. The homes architecture replicates those found in Black Forest in Germany and was very cool with many antiquities. Enjoy!

Herd reduction. Bacon bits available. Some feeder quality some show quality. Priced according, but it's still VERY affordable for the fall jackpotters. Two 80-90lb roasters, and 5-6 purebred Yorkshire-influenced crossbred gilts that were sired by Choir Boy of Shipleys on a Purebred Hot Take Yorkshire gilt that my granddaughter did VERY well with at Arizona Nationals (pictured below) that I specifically held back as replacement gilts, but my barn, time, and lack of help will not accommodate the numbers. If you know anything about this pairing, you know they were bred for easy farrowing and growth as well as good mothering/milking ability.
I am also weaning five (5) litters in the next 7-10 days and will have a few 1st/2nd parity crossbred gilts with excellent genetics available. They did GREAT farrowing on their own and were great mothers. I know the quality of what I have and they will be priced accordingly, but priced to move. If they do not move, they will be bred back for December/January fair pigs and sold as bred for double the $$.
Two gilts raised and shown by my granddaughter: one Purebred and Spot and one crossbred calico'd up gilt that didn't make it to fair due to pink eye and is being treated now. Asking what we paid for them - $800/ea. They both have time left for jackpotting in the fall if a family was looking for something to pick up for that purpose.
Lastly, one 1st parity gilt that cannot be bred again weighing approximately 375lbs for $300. PM for pricing.

We haven’t tooted our horn or advertised our show hogs much this year. We still have solid quality show pigs in the barn priced to move. Not the greatest photos nor are the pigs spit-shined for a photo shoot, but posting anyway. We are also cutting the granddaughters show string by two gilts and are only asking what we paid for them. Not pictured are two phenomenal gilts similar in color to the white and blue spotted pigs shown. If interest PM and we can talk. Reservations are only made with non-refundable deposits and we do not entertain “lookers” because of barn biosecurity. They wouldn’t be for sale as show pigs if the quality wasn’t there.

If anyone is interested in a small sow or medium sow for sausage, Nathan Petersen has openings on April 10th that I can squeeze them into for you. I also have a nice gilt for butcher and/or has a nice breeding with Hillbilly Bone genetics. I am downsizing mouths to feed. Appointments for butcher will not be made until $$$ is in hand. 3$$ small 1.5 years), $400 medium (2 years), 6$$ butcher/breeding stock. The medium 2-year-old is an Ottenwalter (Snafu) that is an easy breeder also if that's the direction you want to take. Don't dawdle as others might take up his openings on the 10th.
Feel free to PM

Is it just me or are others appalled at advertisements of butcher-ready hogs photoed and advertised for below cost of what it truly is to feed them out standing in deplorable conditions? I know the rain and mud have been awful this year, and I’ve had a few sows standing in mud before the weekend and I had the time to scrape and rebed them. But showing hogs on what appears to be a hard surface with 2-4 inches of filth and filthy body’s makes me wonder about the quality of living conditions just for someone to make a few dollars raising them in those conditions. Have they been wormed? Vaccinations? Where do they lay down to rest? How many have died because of such living conditions? Shoveling, hose work and some wheelbarrows of shavings, straw or other dry matter will improve the stress pigs are definitely under and hence the quality of their meat not to mention a more appealing photo of the group. This disgusts me. Some people should not raise animals to make a buck if they can’t do so humanely with comfortable accommodations for them. I am so POd every time I see this person advertise and especially when they are marketing younger pigs as “show pigs” for unbelievable low prices. It the unknowing kids and families that pay the price at fairs for white ribbons and selling at the end of the sale (if they even get to auction) after all of their hard work.
