SUNDAY SURPRISE!!

To some AWWWW will come to mind but to us thats not at all what has happened. This mom was dumped un-altered at someone's home. The wonderful homeowner reached out to us to intake and try to find homes or rescue placement for her and 3 other cats.

We woke up at 4am (our days start very early and end very late) and were met with the horrifying sight of newborn kittens umbilical still attached, not cleaned, freezing cold, gasping for air and a terrified new mother hiding in her litter box. We jumped into organized chaos grabbing towels, cleaning babies, clearing airways, hoping the gasping would stop and movement would start. Slowly very slowly we started hearing faint meows, stiffened legs started to bend and move fur started to dry and movement happened.

They arent out of the woods yet if mom does not nurse them they will not get the vital colostrum that they need to survive, if mom reject them she will attack them and hurt them, if we have to bottle feed them their chances of survival drop to 5-7% and not because of what we do or dont do but because kittens do not do well as bottle babies they have to have their mom in order to have antibodies, digestive enzymes, etc.

Please spay and neuter everyone!! If you FEED THEM FIX THEM not eventually not when they are older...RIGHT NOW. These babies didnt ask to be here but they are and they are fighting for every single heart beat!! Mom didnt ask to be terrified of what has happened to her but she is and she may never accept and care for them!! $30 and all of this could have been avoided!

Everyday is a good day to cancel HUMP Days and go Ball-Less!! Today is our day to help these babies to never have unwanted litters, keep males from maiming eachother over females in heat, and make their lives healthier!! Remember males don't have to have BALLS to be male, Females don't give 2 craps about "EXPERIENCING MOTHERHOOD"! If you FEED THEM then it is your RESPONSIBILITY to FIX them! Not all of our amazing residents have fur or whiskers some have feathers and one very special lady has scales and LOVES cantaloupe!

Madam Tuttle(formerly known as sonic) use to be a classroom turtle but came to us when her care giver needed to rehome her. The dimples on her shell are from lack of calcium and vitamins found in dark leafy greens so she is on supplements and gets plenty of leafy greens. If you look at her shell you will notice how it is turned upwards instead of downward this is because(not bashing her previous owners) she was kept in a tank that was far to small for her. Did you know turtles need 5-10 gallons of water for each inch of shell length? Turtles shell is 6 inch long meaning she needs at least a 35 gal tank but preferably a 60 gal to flourish.

We have not been able to give her the water depth that she truly needs because her lungs dont have the diving and holding capacity that they need for a turtle her size. Her size should have a lung capacity of 30 mins however she comes up for air about every 10-12 mins. Every week her water goes higher and every month her tank gets a bit bigger. We have to adjust slowly or she could drown.

Whenever you get a pet always always be sure to research and educate yourself because once you bring them into your world they rely on you for everything for the rest of their life and for madame Tuttle that will be 40+ years...I(Crystal) will be 75+ and may have to include Madam Tuttle in my will 🤣🫣

PSA this post is in no way to bash, ridicule or be cruel to her previous owners(they loved her very much and letting her go was heartbreaking from them) this is simply an educational post because with school starting we know there may be classroom pets which spark interest and learning but can also spark on a whim purchases of animals by families that truly do not need to share their lives with them(again not saying that was at all the case with Madam Tuttles previous family). Reptiles, contrary to popular belief, are hard babies to provide care for and take a lot of extras that most people dont know or realize until they already have a scaly friend.

Today we are showcasing one of our amazing couch panthers...SPOOKLY!!

Spookly came to us when her colony caregiver needed to downsize. She came in with her 4 daughters. One daughter(Carmella) has been adopted but spookly and the 3 sisters(snickerdoodle, Reese, and Milky-Way) are still waiting for their Happily furever after.

Spookly is 4 yrs old Spayed, vaccinated, Negative combo test and on revolution prevention. She loves to rub around your ankles and sit next to you while you work or read a book. She is a typical elusive panther at first and will take time to adjust and open up...but once she's comfortable then her true personality shines!!

Please understand cats take time to adjust to new homes, sounds people and situations. They operate in 3s 3 weeks, 3 months 3 years. It is unrealistic to expect a cat to open up in 24 hrs or 72 hrs when most humans don't open up and become comfortable when givem the same time frame.

Our WISH for this Wednesday is for all of our Adult cats to find their furever families but we will be over the moon if one of these amazing seasoned residents can find their furever home!!

🎉Xavier, Spade & Precious: 1-2 yrs old🎉
They came to us after losing their home to a structure fire. They were hiding under the rubble but needed a safe place to rest because the rubble was going to be cleared.

🎉Enoch-3 yrs old/neutered🎉
Enoch came to us after laying in the rain for days in a front yard after they assumed he was dead from being hit by a car. They finally went out to move his body and found him very much alive. He had a fractured pelvis but has fully recovered!

🎉Milky-Way, Snickerdoodle, Reese: 3 yrs old🎉
These girls are sisters and came to us when their colony caregiver needed to downsize. They are spade, vaccinated, Negative on combo test.

🎉Spookly- 4 yrs old🎉
Spookly is the queen of her castle and is the mother to Milky-Way, Reese, and snickerdoodl. She came to us when their colony needed to downsize. She was previously adopted but was returned due to hiding and the established cat showing signs of stress with her presence. She does take time to get comfortable and needs a family that will give her the full 3 wks-who knows when to adjust.

🎉Simon-3 yrs old🎉
Simon came in from a hoarding case where 11 + cats where all unaltered except 1 fm living in a 1 bedroom apartment. Simon is neutered, vaccinated, and has a neg combo test.

🎉Ember-5 yrs old🎉
Ember was abandoned by her previous owners when they sold their property. She was dumped outside having been an indoor cat her whole life. It was thought she was pregnant but when no kittens ever came it was determined she instead had life threatening fluid build up from a massive fungal infection in her lungs! She fought through not 1, not 2 but 3 months of meds that could either save her or kill her and now she is healthy and ready to find her family!

🎉Tucker-4 yrs old🎉
Tucker came in with a skin infection after his colony caregiver noticed he was balding and scabby. Tucker has sensitive skin and will need a family that can prevent him from having any allergic flare ups down the road.

🎉Mushu-1 yr old🎉
Mushu was abandoned with 3 other cats inside a rental property with no food or water for days. His sister evangeline was so malnourished she passed away shortly after coming to us. His brothers voodoo(gypsy) and Truffle have been adopted by wonderful families but mushu remains. All of the cats where COVERED IN FLEAS to the point fleas where jumping ship because there was no space for them. Mushu has extensive hairless to his back half due to a flea allergy. He has started to grow peach fuzz but we dont knownif he will ever regain a full coat of hair. He has had a meet and greet but when the person saw his back half they said he was ugly and they didnt want him! This boy loves to love and needs someone to look past his unique appearance(that he didnt ask for) and love him anyway!

TURQUOISE decided that she didnt want to be an UP-TOWN GIRL even the high-class toys and up-town boys couldn't keep her in New York! She jumped in the first private Uber she could find and flew back to the slower, back roads, Kitty Gritty Dirt Band kind of living that she missed!

This stylish country girl is looking for her forever home! She was sent back as a failed foster-adoption due to "aggression issues" however we havent seen any of those behaviors but we will be monitoring and dog/people/cat/pocket pet testing her again just to be sure!

🌈Kartika(Baby Tika) 8/12/25🪽
We have the sad update that Baby Tika gained her angel wings a few minutes ago. Her little body just couldnt go any further or any longer. We know we did everything we possibly could for her but it is still so heartbreaking to lose them! Please please spay & neuter everyone. Tika wouldnt have suffered her entire short life had her mom been spayed or her father neutered! We will see you on the Flip Side sweet girl!

Why do we say SPAY/NEUTER everyone? It's because of sweet souls like Kartika! This baby is only 7-8 wks old and already fighting for her life! She didnt ask to be the who knows what number baby to a momma who's possibly already had 30+ kittens in her life. She didnt ask to be dumped on a dead end back road and she definitely didnt ask to become so sick she cant stand or walk.

She has not 1 but 2 infections in mouth and despite not having the strength to stand or walk she is still making biscuits and shoves her head into your hand for head pets!

We are syringe feeding her food/water/formula and giving her nutrical a few times a day to keep sugar and minerals from depleting. We also have to clean her up routinely because she doesn't have the strength to move in order to potty.

Kartika will be on a high strength antibiotic called orbax for 7-14 days and possibly 21 if the infection is stubborn and tries to hang around. Thats 2 maybe 3 jars of orbax.

Orbax is $74.99 a jar

We have 12 medical cases right now and our clavamox supply is also running low.

Clavamox is $27.99 a bottle

We could really use some donations to help us restock our meds and provide Kartika with orbax. She may not survive without it and this girl is the true definition of a Fighter!
