Whether your pet is currently struggling with a behavioral concern at home or you are wanting to set your new family member up for success early, we are here to help. Evergreen Veterinary Hospital is excited to now offer behavior consultations with our new veterinarian, Dr. Ellen Puthoff! Dr. Puthoff has a special interest in behavior and is a certified Elite Fear Free veterinary practitioner.

Examples of behavioral issues that can be addressed include separation anxiety, noise phobias, generalized/situational anxiety, aggression, and inappropriate urinations. We can also discuss acclimation to and options for nail trimming, puppy/kitten socialization, preparing pets for the arrival of a new baby, and addressing hospital-related fear, including ‘happy visits’ to help create a more positive association with the hospital.

Evergreen Veterinary Hospital is excited to announce that Dr. Ellen Puthoff has joined the Evergreen Team! She brings a new focus - behavioral medicine - to our practice. Please join us in welcoming her!

Dr. Ellen Puthoff graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. She is a native of Troy, Ohio, and completed her undergraduate work at Miami University. Dr. Puthoff's professional interests include internal medicine with experience in ultrasound imaging. She is an advocate of fear-free medicine and passionate about behavior medicine, with a goal of lifelong success for her patients. Her recreational interests include running, cycling, reading, crocheting, and traveling with her husband. Dr. Puthoff is an avid Star Wars and Harry Potter fan, so it is no surprise that her very spoiled Golden Retriever is named Ollivander!

Did you know May is Arthritis Awareness Month?!

Osteoarthritis is one of the most common painful conditions recognized in both dogs and cats, and it can affect all ages. Some causes of osteoarthritis include age, obesity, prior injuries, or genetics. Some signs include limping, stiffness, difficulty getting up or lying down, reluctance to jump and play, and licking or biting at joints.

Although there is no cure for osteoarthritis, there are many different ways to help manage it! Our team can assess your pet for osteoarthritis and make suggestions to help manage and improve their quality of life!
