I realize it’s been a long while since I posted. So many developments this year have kept me preoccupied. The big news is that I have applied to purchase a 7 acre piece of land in Carlton, Oregon. If approved, I’ll be building a bed and breakfast, orchards, and animal pens! Can you imagine??
The property has a spring, a stream, and a partial wetland, which is unconventional but suits my needs very well. It is perched on the edge of Tillamook Forest, yet is within walking distance of a coffee shop, a bakery, a French restaurant, and about two dozen wineries. Please wish me luck as I move forward in this new adventure!

This weekend will be a first for me, as I’ve gotten a booth at a local plant event!
Please visit me (and my 80+ plants!) at booth #5 at Inspired Gardens on Saturday May 17th from 12-5:00. I’ll be selling perennial plants and many other goodies. I’ll be one of sixty vendors! More info, including site map, in the comments.

Oh, my! I can hardly CONTAIN myself after taking an inventory of my spring sales containers. I’ve been squirreling away baskets and other unusual plant containers since fall. I’ve also got about 150 baby plants growing, including violas, basil, primrose, sweet pea, parsley, toothache plant, coleus, and many more! These were a hit last year and I’m excited to be building about thirty live baskets to sell in May.. Stay tuned for updates!

Here’s our friend, Mr T. 🐸
He’s got a message for all you humans.

In case you hadn’t noticed, we’re in the midst of a drought. 😕 Lend a helping hand to your fellow creatures by placing a dish or bowl of water outside. Here are some tips:
-Include rocks, leaves, or sticks to allow creatures to come and go without risk of drowning.
-Change water daily to avoid mosquitoes, or add a sprinkle of BT to the water.
-Place in a shady spot, or dappled morning sun. Avoid metal or black bowls that transfer heat.

If you do this all summer, you’ll make many new friends!

This is Aaron and my second year farming flowers here at our home. Many of these plants hadn’t matured enough to bloom last year. Wow! I’m so pleased with the outcome thus far!

I realize I’ve been pretty quiet throughout the winter. I’ve got big news to share, though! I’ve successfully completed the design portion of my education and am now professionally designing landscapes in Cincinnati, Dayton, and surrounding areas!

Also, beginning on May 15th, I’ll be selling weekly flowers again to those who would like to subscribe to the floral CSA. Cost will be $10 per bunch for weekly flower subscriptions. I’m excited to say that we’ll have many more varieties of flowers available this year, as the gardens have continued to mature.

Here are a few pics from the garden today. In two weeks, we’ll have many more flowers in full bloom!

Here’s a photo of the garden in its sleepy, cool-weather state. We leave the flowers through winter, and their seeds will help to feed the birds and smaller animals! Even more importantly, the dried stems will serve as housing for many beneficial insects.
