Sooo.... Odin had an FCE back in January last year which paralyzed him from the waist down. We have owned danes since I was a teenager and this is something for which I had never even known about, common with large breeds. It has been a long, tedious journey. With physical therapy, he has mostly recovered. There remains a deficit in his back right leg which causes a limp and some dragging of his foot at times.
In about January of this year, he torn off the pad of his inner toe on his bad leg coming in the sliding glass doors. This is a wound that after treating for several months was almost healed.... until he chased a deer.... and I had to start over. 🙄
We decided at this point amputation was the best decision for him. So, last Friday his toe was amputated. So now begins the recovery and hopefully some relief for him in the end.
P.S. only an old OB nurse would pad a splint that was causing pressure sores with maxi pads.... just saying!
And if anyone has connections for wound care dressing supplies.....let me know!
