Philly has been HOT lately 🥵☀️

After days of heat waves, sweaty walks, and pups searching for the coldest spot on the floor, it looks like those rain storms rolling in might finally give the city a little cooldown 🌧️✨

As much as we love the sunshine, these temperature swings can be a lot on our dogs too - especially thick-coated pups. Make sure they’re staying hydrated, getting plenty of shade, and avoiding those hot afternoon sidewalks.

And honestly? A fresh groom during a heat wave just hits different 🤍

Here’s to cooler air, rainy night sounds, and some relief from the Philly heat!

POV: me pretending I’m a professional while full spiraling because your dog made eye contact with me once and now we’re emotionally connected forever.

Things your dogs do that I’ll never get tired:
• the little tippy taps before treats
• dogs who act like I personally ruined their lives during nail trims but kiss me 2 minutes later
• sniffing clean paws after a paw treatment like a total weirdo
• saying “who’s sooo handsome” in a voice I would NEVER use around humans, well maybe
• senior dogs leaning into me because they trust me
• doodles putting their entire emotional support paws on my arm mid-groom
• telling anxious dogs “you’re okay” while lowkey needing someone to tell me the same thing 😂

This job is equal parts grooming, emotional support, dog hair inhalation, and negotiating with tiny furry union representatives.

I fear I may never recover.

Why does Meechie look like he just got back from Cancun with zero emails answered? 🌴😂

We skipped the bandana instead, he left in his little Hawaiian shirt looking like he spent 4 days at an all-inclusive resort ordering shrimp cocktails and ignoring responsibilities.

This little outfit kind of represents his whole grooming journey right now.

His first appointment was a full reset because his coat had become heavily matted and uncomfortable. And sometimes that happens faster than people expect, especially with soft cottony coats like his. Life gets busy. Dogs wiggle. Brushing becomes harder than anticipated. It’s more common than people think.

What matters most is what happens next.

Today’s visit still had some matting, but NOTHING like the first time. Which means his coat is becoming manageable again instead of overwhelming for both him and his family.

That’s the part people don’t always realize:
consistent grooming appointments usually mean LESS stress for the dog overall.

Less time spent working through tangles.
Less pulling on sensitive skin.
Less discomfort.
Less “starting over.”

Just regular maintenance, comfort, and tiny improvements over time.

Meanwhile Meechie’s over here looking like he asks the waiter if the margaritas are strong enough. 😭
