Companion Animal Veterinary Hospital opened in 1984 and has been serving their client's pets ever since. The practice currently has 3 full-time veterinarians on staff and is open to care for pets 7 days a week.

🎆 Preparing Your Pets for a Safe & Happy 4th of July! 🎆

Be sure to request medication refills, especially for anxiety, before 4th of July!

The 4th of July is a blast for us, but it can be a stressful time for our furry friends! Loud noises from fireworks can cause anxiety and fear in pets. Here’s how to help them stay calm and safe:

1️⃣ Create a Safe Space: Designate a quiet, comfortable room where your pet can retreat. Include their favorite toys, blankets, and maybe even a piece of your clothing for comfort.

2️⃣ Keep Them Indoors: Make sure all pets are safely inside before fireworks begin. Close windows and curtains to minimize noise and light.

3️⃣ Mask the Noise: Turn on a TV or play calming music to help drown out the sound of fireworks.

4️⃣ Update Identification: Ensure your pet has proper identification (collar with ID tag and microchip) in case they get scared and run off.

5️⃣ Calming Aids: Consult with us about anxiety medication that can help reduce your pet’s stress. Get those medications now before the 4th of July comes so you can help prepare your pet! 🐶🐱

6️⃣ Exercise Early: Tire your pet out with a good walk or play session earlier in the day.

7️⃣ Stay Home if Possible: If your pet is severely anxious, consider staying home with them during the fireworks.

With that being said, CAVH will be closed on Monday, May 26th to observe Memorial Day. We will open back up on Tuesday, May 27th at 8:30am for all your pet care needs! For emergent cases, please go to CVSG on County Line and Broadway 🏥
