·How to TRIM your Dragon·
Meet Petunia! She was perfectly polite for her nail trim!

Depending on your Bearded Dragon & their daily living environment, they may require nail maintenance. Nails that are too long can become sharp & painful for you. They're more likely to snag on things & can cause discomfort for your beardie with walking if the nails have grown long enough to start twisting around.
Beardie's do have a quick, just like dogs & cats so you have to be careful not to cut too short.

Chickens and Turkeys usually naturally scratch their own nails down. Sometimes they don't though and the nails will grow long enough to start curling around which makes it difficult and uncomfortable for them to walk.

Did you know that Chickens and Turkeys have a quick in their nail, just like dogs and cats?

loves a lot of things, but getting a is not one of them. He goes into full panic mode. I would really like to change that reaction/behavior & create a more positive association with for him. We are working on cc/ds with having his legs/paws touched and handled, eventually building up to introducing back into the picture. In this first session, I am simply touching his leg & rewarding him for not pulling away. He has the to walk away & be done anytime he'd like!

Stormy gets a 🐾 Stormy started pawdicures when he was a tiny little guy, so he generally tolerates them pretty well. I still use lots of treats to continue creating a positive association with having his nailz trimmed. Nail tricks ➡️➡️ Step 1. TREATS! Ultimately we want to create a positive rewarding experience, really yummy treats help make that real easy! *It's been a while since Storm's last nail trim so I like to give one treat for every nail clipped. Step 2. TOOLS! Personally I prefer to use they've been my go to for 10+ years Step 3. PATIENCE. Nail trimz can already be stressful, on top of all the other extra stress going on right now. If you feel confident trimming your dogs nails right now, go for it! If you're not ready, don't stress! There are other things you can be doing now to help ease the pain of nail trimz in the future....more on that tomorrow!

Hi friends! 😊 My name is Stephanie & I am the face behind 🐾 I thought that I would share a little about myself...I am an ABC Certified Dog Trainer & Vet Tech Assistant, I have worked off & on in the animal world over the last 10 years. I decided to turn my passion (low key obsession....) with trimming dogs/cats nails into a just about one year ago and it has been an absolute blast! 1. I live with 4 dogs & 4 cats
2. I held a koala bear in Australia 🐨 3. I have owned Sugar Gliders, Ferrets & Chinchillas at some point in my life
4. I can trim nailz REALLY FAST🐾
